Well, I don't know. I read an interview with John Cusack this weekend and he made a statement I can quite agree with. he said that movies are best judged qualitywise in about five years. ANH and ESb (and in their slipstream also a bit ROTJ) rate really high up there in the Classics list. Frankly, I don't see TPM up there yet (that's about five years ago) and I doubt AOTC will be in there as well. So it goes beyond seeing films at a certain age. I've seen films I loved when I was between 10-15, but I don't like all of them now. Some I do and some I don't.

And also, if EPIII is going to give us all we have wanted to see, then I wonder: is that so. After all, we KNOW what we're gonna see. It's quite a difference in excitement as compared to that created by the final scenes in ESB: we had to wait three frigging years to find out if Vader was really Luke's father or that he was manipulating him??? Heck, no one knew for sure: the biggest villain in film history the father of the hero???? Now, that was quite a shock. And let's be frank, there is no such excitement and expectation like that now, no matter what age you have.

Well that is the problem with watching the end before we see the beginning. Lucas promises twists but you're right queeq, there really won't be any earth shattering surprises. I'm not sure these 3 are supposed to. I think Lucas just wanted to finish what he started (or should I say ended?) and give the fans the backstory for Anakin so that the films will then appear to be more about him and his redemption. I'm still looking forward to it though, because I don't know what finally pushes Anakin over, if it is ONE thing only. I don't know why Obi-wan fights him and I don't know how Palpatine turns the Republic against the Jedi. I have pretty good, well thought out theories on these things, but I think just seeing them play out will be really fun. Honestly, this is the story I've always wanted to see. Watching the OT, even as a kid, even before I knew what had happened to Vader, I always felt kind of bad for him. You could tell something bad had made him that way. No one is that mean just for fun ('cept maybe Palpatine). Especially after the conversation between Luke and Vader on Endor in ROTJ. There was so much pain, I always wanted to know what had happened to him. I think when they're all done, Anakin's path will be a much more interesting focus point than just overthrowing the Empire (at least to me). But again, the OT had so much in it, like somebody said earlier, people got into them for different reasons. Some people like the war aspect and the politics. Some people like the mythology/philosophy, other people like the redemption. And some people just think they're fun. Since this trilogy is a lot more simplistic (not in scope, but in focus) than the OT which seemed to show more aspects of the galaxy and its culture. And I think when they're all done, the contrast will actually make the whole series better. The PT we see more of the government, the galactic big wigs, and they're decline. Then, once its all crumbled, we get to see the people of the galaxy rise up against this new tyranny in the OT, so it made more since to get into the little cities like Bespin or Mos Eisley. So really you just have to look at what makes the most sense to show. There is so much going on in the SW galaxy, its so expansive, that we have to realize that GL has to cram as much info as possible into around 2 hrs. Its hard to give everyone what they want.

Oh I agree. What I hope for is some decent dramatic moments again. I personally feel the PT lacks that a bit. I look forward to a well executed dramatic relationship between Anakin and OB1, which MUST be the core of this film. And it's going to be GL's challenge to do that well. So far that has not been his strongest point in the PT, hence my concern.
If he moves us with this relationship, EPIII is a success in my opinion.
