It does have to do with VD, but not with love.

I think Jedi desire is beyond feeling pleasure for themselves.

I think so, Jedi care only for others. Anakin said so himself.

Maybe the loophole is that they can satisfy women therefore.

But sex is a form of physical desire, a want, and therefore a form of attachment. And that leads to stuff like jealousy and hate. So sex leads to the Dark Side I think... that's why we like it so much. wink

"The Jedi are selfless. They only care about others"

so they put the needs of others before their own. this does not prove that a jedi is beyond seeking any form of pleasure.

sex does not lead directly to attachment. sex is just sex. the circumstances/feelings surrounding it may or may not lead to attachment, but so is simply having kinship, as jedi clearly have. kinship can lead to attachment...from a certain point of view, kinship automatically implies attachment.

Sex is not just sex, I think that is a major misunderstandment. There is definately vulnerability involved in the act of sex, on both sides, and an amount of attachment otherwise it'd be rape. But I think we agree... call it kinship, attachment...
Maybe it's not forbidden but I think it's a fair guess that it is at least strongly advised against.

*nods* right. i don't think jedi could be that ruthless... like... having one night stands without any even a bit of attachment or something..

You don't need a lack of attachment to be considered rape, that requires a lack of consent. Hookers give consent with no emotional ties to the trick. Here's the thing...certain types of people can have one night stands with no second thoughts about it, while others cant or just don't, being that it's not in their nature. Having said that, I don't think the "typical" Jedi would have the type of morals that would allow themselves to have sex with no emotional attachment, although sex=/=love or attachment. I don't think there would be a rule set against it, just that it would be frowned upon...more-so that if a jedi and go and hit it and not feel anything, he's probably not the best type of Jedi.

Sex, as it should be (wow that sounded way too religious for me), requires some sort of attachment to the person you're having the sex with. If you don't have the attachment to the person then you must be a sex addict, and that would be attachment to the act. So my guess is sex is frowned upon in the Jedi Order. If it wasn't, and I was Kit Fisto, I would have definitely tapped Aayla Secura without hesitation.

Jedi can have sex, i remember an interview with Lucas when he said that jedi can have sex, i remember it clearly because i was so mad when i read it, out of all things that war said about Star Wars, from official people this bothers me the most. Even more then Jar Jar.

http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2002-05-16

i now its not the interview, bit thats all i could find.

no, marxman made a baseless sweeping generalization.
logically and practically sex in itself does not lead to attachment.
what, you guys are romantics? me too...but anecdotal evidence is irrelevant.
remember we were not raised by our parents to forbid attachment either, right?

I never said it was forbidden... but I do think it would have been advised against because attachment is a danger there.
