Vader is not the major focus in EP IV at all....its a minor role considering that we are supposed to view this as Vaders story over 6 episodes
same goes for Yoda and Palpatine..........people 30 years from now are going to say what happened to the little green guy and the Sith lord that featured heavily in the last 3
i must point out above by Sith Lord i meant Palpatine
Vader is not the focus of EpIV Luke was
Vader was just the villain of the piece....everthing else came later when the money started coming in and Lucas decided on a sequel
i reject GL's revised vision. star wars is about the skywalker family, not just vader. he didnt switch his own plot for love of the art, he did it to make the PT more relevant and make his bankroll fatter. ben never met the frikin droids before, as was clearly implied and was clearly intended when the film was made.
its just that i refuse to accept a complete switch in an overall plot, and until the original trilogy is released on dvd, remastered yet not brutally raped, i wont be spending another dime on anything SW related. i came to this revelation when watching RotJ last week and turning it off during the "new and improved" jabba's palace musical number. why was that pile of excrement necessary?
even at the end GL just has to stuff jar jar in our faces one last time.
even the children it was intended for find his new vision mediocre and far prefer the OT.
george lucas = fail

i know we wanted them but they are sloppy
the lines round the ships in space are shocking
itd been nice to get the OT with the clean up of the S.E without the dated CGI updates but thatll never happen now
i wonder if theyll go back and **** around with the S.E for a third time when Lucas/ILM realise how crap the Jawa who falls off that Ronto and the Stormtrooper on Dewback are
whos in charge of what gets improved and what doesnt because they should be shot as its just messy
i never understood why they keep on adding shit and leaving stuff that should be worked on
dare i say it Lukes Tauntaun
unfortunately we'll just have to wait till lucas kicks the bucket,
his ego is so riveted to his revision that he'll never see the truth of how he
molested and destroyed cinematic gold. back in the day he was king midas.
these days all he touches turns to crap. knowing him though, he'll make sure every original reel is destroyed so that he may continue holding the OT hostage from beyond the grave.

What's wrong with Lukes Tauntan? if anything I would fix the hand puppet wampa in ep V and lukes saber on the falcon in ep IV and Putt boba fetts voice back to what it was.
But about Vader, I must point out that in the earliest draft of SW in the early 70s, it was always about a father and a son. SO I am quite sure Lucas intended Vader to be Luke's father, even in ANH. Since ANh and ESB run the original course Lucas and Kurtz designed, I think the Vader-Luke family ties were always there. Why else did Lars and Ob1 respond so oddly to Luke's question about his father? The seed was already there.
there was anakin starkiller and his father kane starkiller who were on the run from darth vader in the earliest draft so true it was about father and sons but i always thought that Vader as Lukes father came after the success of STAR WARS
Obi Wans pause and Owens comment support the claim that Vader was always Lukes father but personally i think it was a descision post SW because from what im reading at the mo no one thought(even Lucas) that SW alone would get made when Lucas came up with the final draught let alone any prequels
i think they are just nice coincidences which leads to the debate on how would a lowly farmer know that Anakin became Vader because im sure Kenobi didnt say shit
Something that always bothered me In the movie, when Beru and Owen are talking, Beru says, Owen he cant stay here, there's to much of his father in him and Owen says, thats what worries me, something like this- how those he know anything, about Lukes father, or what kind a person he was, another contradiction in the PT.

General G made this sig, but i am going to keep annoying him.
Luke: "My father didn't fight in the wars. He was a navigator on a spice freighter")
Ben: "That's what your uncle told you. He didn't hold with your father's ideals. Thought he should have stayed here and not gotten involved".
"I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damned fool idealistic crusade like your father did."
none of it fits 'seemlessly', in fact the PT is a square peg and the OT is a round hole.

Lol, the one that always springs to my mind is that they never changed lukes surname, i remember someone saying Skywalker must be the Smith of the star wars universe or something. The sith lords never picked up the AT & T holonet directory and thought Skywalker? Lars moisture farm? Tatooine? hmmmm, nah!
With the first quote, I look at it as if, if Anakin didn't go off to be a jedi and fight in the wars then he wouldn't have Luke to look after and Anakin wouldn't be "dead"
with the 2nd quote, Ben is buttering Luke up and saying if Anakin hadn't "been killed" by Vader, then he would of wanted you to have this,
and of course his uncle wouldn't allow it if he thought that Anakin shouldn't get involved with the Jedi.
This depends greatly on your certain point of view.
