Ethics is subjective. However, some people are conscious of the objectionable nature of their actions, and still go ahead anyhow. You think killing 'younglings' (always wondered why you didn't just say 'children') would have been defined as good? Doubtless, it served some purpose according to Anakin's twisted logic, but I think he would have seen it as a necessary 'evil', thus his justification of his actions.
With Darth Vader though... not so much the necessary evil, as just crushing everyone who gets in his way.
