I remember reading that if Spidy could increase the thickness of his web by half an inch one strand would hold the Thing prisoner forever but apart from that. WTF?
It's not the best VS I've read, but oh what the heck .
When written right, it should be something of a non-event : Spider-Man can not hurt the Thing (too tough), and the Thing can not hit Spider-Man (too fast).
So nobody wins and nobody loses (though Spidey can annoy the Thing more than vice versa).

This is a good thread i'd love to see the thing rippig through spideys webs and not pissed off but angry. I'd like to see him bust through brick buildings(that'd be good art) and spidey lead him to a pond and bounce ontop of the water like a spider. The thing follows him into the pond to pound him and spidey pulls the drain, leaving Gimm in a funnel pit a bit grim.
one thunderclap and spidey is unconscious....if u think the thing cant bust out of extra thick spider webbing then ur a fool...if u new anything about comics u would know extra thick webbing couldnt hold either u or me for over a day...spidey's webbing dissolves within 24 hours...u would also know that the thing has busted out of restraints built by everyone, including Dr. Doom that were supposed to inexcapable
Spider-Man would win, It clearly stated in Spider-Man #1 that when took on The Fantastic Four he one, and that was with all four of them, so The Thing would not be a problem.

Businessmen, Teachers, Lawyers, Carpenters...the very minds of the people we're trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system, and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so innerred, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will that they will fight to protect it.
Thing has the edge in strength, durability, and will (though the two are closer than you may think).
Spidey has the edge in everything else (wait, I think Thing has the enduance edge to...) but in saying this, Thing does have a pretty vast advantage in strength and durability, and he's got Spidey in will to (though still Spidey has shown he has will to boot....it's kinda close).
To me, it could go either way. Spidey could immobilize the Thing in webbing or toss him a great deal, exerting a moderate deal of his spider strength, as Thing charges forward as he did in the comic where Spidey fought the entire FF. And it's not like Thing could detroy the guy with one punch, Spidey's rolled with Thing punches before when the two were fighting mano-a-mano. Granted, if Thing didn't hold back it would be over quickly, but then again that is only if he touches or grabs Spidey, and this is a hard (VERY hard) thing to do when Spidey knows he has to break out the speed.
Thing's thunderclap would probably KO Spidey, yeah, but only if close enough. And if Spidey closed in to slug it out with Thing (though this is unlikely) Thing would take the battle in maybe one or two "no holding back" punches.
In short, there's little room for error for the two. If Spidey is on his toes and Thing decides to take it full speed ahead, then he gets tossed. Said rules apply if Spidey takes to the air and breaks out the webbing.
If Spidey gets to close to the Thing and wants to slug it out (though this is an unlikely factor) he'd get pummeled. Said rules apply if Spidey gets to close within range of Thing's thungerclap, Thing wins via KO. But the chances of these two getting too close to each other, knowing what each one could do to the other, are very small.

lol...........spideyman spinned web to orange thing and thing becomes thingier and is getting webbed but peter can jump and stick when thing punch ground hard causing shaking and jumping spider kick thing which foot hurt makes then spider not kick or punch and thing do punch but spider do judo type catch and throw.......*gasp*
spider-man's web takes an hour to dissolve, he can evade the thing as he knows he'll hurt himself punching his skin (probably) so he'll use his speed and throw the thing around as much as he can, he'll also use his webbing often............ he may get lucky and wear the thing out........ but as stated, spidey will have difficulty hurting the thing and the thing won't catch spidey.......... so either spidey will win or spidey will escape
