At the very least, he's shown carrying two tons in the form of the Daily Plantet Globe. He's undoubtedly able to lift more, but director Bryan Singer seems to have imposed certain restrictions in power, such as his need to breath more often than his comic forms.

Otherwise, it'd hard to tell until we see more.

Go to the Comic book forum and then to Whirlys Thread on Superman, full story

He should be at PC level since it's a sequel to Superman II. Probably won't do anything on that level though.

The Post-Crisis feats list? That's quite old, and it doesn't quite pertain to the movie version, which is bound to have differences.

My guess? He's as strong as the story requires.

Hulk didn't look too bad in his movie. Thing was Class 5 when he first got his powers and they stuck to that in the movie.

hmm maybe but when he pulled that firetruck down that looked alot more then class five..............Anyway Superman didn't have supergigantic lift moments in 1 and 2 mostly speed ( H e was strong just not PC type) maybe we can see more but its REALLY tough to show someone lifting say a battleship out of the water on the big screen without it cracking in 2 or someone questioning it .........like how did the physics work on that?smile Anyway I am pumped about this new movie with the Man of Steel!

The biggest feat of strength was in the end of the first Reeve-Superman movie. I think the faultlines were collapsing, so he buries underneath and LIFTS the entire thing back up. The weight of that would have been staggering.

As for lifting something without it breaking apart, John Byrne's reboot explained it as a form of force field that keeps objects together.

Thing struggled like hell on the firetruck and didn't even get it completely back on the bridge. He was no higher than Class 10 in the movie.

The Donner Superman movies were based on his Silver Age version of the character.
He was as powerful as the story required.
