Hell, Mary Sue isn't even a real term. It's an arbitrary designation by people who don't like a character.

Dante was always a mary sue doing ridiculous shit with a, "look at me, I'm badass. I'm going to go turn on my jukebox even though I've just been impaled because I'm that cool" party-dude mentality. Nothing he did was natural or subtle, it was always as over the top and ridiculous as possible. Let's not even pretend that it was ever anything different. DMC3 was a serious plot, and Dante ****ed it up by basically being one dimensional and doing god fearing stunts.

However your right about the misinterpeting mary sue by people but dante is the only exception imo.

Well I don't like Dante so feel free to bash him all you want. But Leon at least has limits. he was knocked unconscious and beaten several times in RE4 for instance.
