"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
I don't even play Pokemon, and never have, but this sh*t is seriously the funniest, coolest thing I've seen the underbelly of the internet produce in a long time. The subculture that emerged around it in literally about 2 days is astounding.
I mean, it's maddening, stupid, absurd, etc. But I'm completely serious when I say there are multiple sociological articles that could be written from the collective process and results.
That doesn't take us quite up to the present. The only other notable development is that they switched to Democracy briefly to complete an otherwise-impossible section on anarchy (Safari Zone? I'm bad with my Pokemon terms), which anarchy was apparently stuck on for about 12 hours. But otherwise it's remained almost entirely on anarchy. I haven't heard a whole lot else coming out of it. There are some chat forums and subreddits where there's a collective trying to discuss strategy and such, so there's been general progress. But the nature of it means that in the short-term, a LOT of terrible and/or random things can happen.
If that's all you're doing, yeah, agreed. I sometimes let it run in a background tab. Much more interesting to just pop in every now and then, and to follow the developments via memes and such.
