The original Monitor was empowered by the infinite universes of the positive matter multiverse; contained 2 universes in a standalone dimension dissociated from the multiverse; and empowered Harbinger to do the same thing to 3 other universes.

Darkseid being implied to be some sort of multiversal power, is all well and good, but it's just an assumption at this point. And based on actual showings, he's nowhere near that level (just look at the 1st JL arc, Origins).

There's no reason Monitor shouldn't stomp DS.

Well...wasn't Darkseid multiversal in Final Crisis and everything else retconned to Avatars?

Before i answer your question, you must know that i was talking about the post-FP version of Darkseid. Because the scan posted in the op is from JL #23.1 (N52). And the purpose of this thread is tied to the events of the recent Forever Evil arc, id assume.

Anyway, FC only had an indirect reference that all previous appearances of the Darkseid aren't in his true form. However, the confirmation came in an interview, where Morrison said that all previous appearances of the New Gods, not just Darkseid, are merely limited projections into the 3rd dimension. But in FC, the real things appeared for the first time.
