I had painted that picture a while before the DLC came out, but I would have preferred he was actually stronger than Revan tbh. Would have made the Revan novel less BS.
The whole idea of the Hero of Tython was that he'd be the ultimate avatar of the light side destined to annihilate the Emperor. Instead, Revan is demonstrably superior, and Vitiate even moreso. We'll see as they add more story quests, though.

Re: How did you feel about H.O.T. losing all his hype?
Revan's game helped put Star Wars back on the map to be frank (especially after Lucas effed up the Phantom Menace). Like many, I was very disappointed to see him (and the Exile) get slapped around like nothing so that these new fanfic like characters (Scourge, Vitiate and H.O.T) could shine and was even more disappointed to see that Revan not only never saw his wife and child again, but was brought back just to get thrashed as a lame forgettable mid-level boss. It's good to see that Bioware learned their lesson and did their original Star Wars character some justice.
Though if you ask me, he should have stayed dead. The Revan novel should have been about his last grand adventure (no Scourge crap) and how he died of old age after having settled down with his wife and kid. Instead of playing telepathic checkers for 300 years, he inflicts an injury on Vitiate that doesn't kill him, but forces him to take that long to recover. Meanwhile, Revan, in his final years, puts the Republic on a path where it'll be ready for the Emperor upon his return. Afterwards, Revan is remembered as a legend and Satele proudly carries his blood.
Instead, we ended up getting a very poorly written (and MISLEADING) novel. I remember sitting down to read the entire thing in one night. Ended up throwing it in the trash upon getting to the ending.
