Etrigan (son of Belial, grandson of Trigon) takes on his little aunt Raven (daughter of Trigon, half-sister of Belial) for the title of all time greatest Hell-based hero of DC.
Is it because my fights suck, or because my series of vs threads based of the crossover one-shot thread fell off? Because I’m gonna start that up again! I promise.
That’s what I was thinking. Sometimes I feel like she’s supposed to be DC’s “Phoenix” but she ends up getting handled way more easily, unless she’s actually facing Trigon
People are welcome to correct me where/if I’m wrong but my understanding is there’s a few similarities in that at base levels, they started as an inexperienced telepath/empath on their respective teams (The original New Teen Titans and X-Men lineups, who have parallels as well). Later they both learn they are capable of possessing (or being possessed by) power much greater and become occasional main adversaries of said teams. The Phoenix Force can be loosely likened to Trigon’s influence, the Souls of Azarath, or whatever else makes Raven become “Dark Raven” (like “Dark Phoenix”)
There’s def a lot of differences too, but that’s what comes to my mind
I mean I don’t wanna start a semantics argument or nothing. Darkseid was definitely weakened, and Raven was also channeling additional “prayers/energy” or whatever you wanna call it from the Amazons, but, she sorta did both
