Yes. Nekron makes ring at one point was also infecting the living.
It took 2 Deus Ex Machina to beat Nekron.
1. They severed his connection to Black Hand
2. They used the White Entity to beat him
In this fight, they have no knowledge of those 2 factors, and I don’t see anyone powerful enough in the hierarchy to forcefully send Nekron back to his realm with those 2 feud Deus Ex Machina
Not to nitpick but the White Entity was going to be killed by Nekron. The only way they beat him was by severing his connection to mainstream reality (aka Black Hand). Star Sapphire even says the White Light/Entity was doing nothing to Nekron : (please log in to view the image)

And the Guardian says Sinestro was losing because of his Ego, not his will. Star is far less knowledgeable than a Guardian, so I would go with the Guardians reasoning than Star.

Only because Sinestro was a moron. Sinestro whole thing was to get the Entity and subdue it. Sinestro forgets that the White Entity was a living thing that wouldn’t just let someone use its powers to do evil thing.
If Sinestro has merge with the Entity for the right reasons, he could have beaten Nekron. Sinestro for the few minutes he was merged with the Entity never tried to worked with said Entity.
