I guess if you're talking about Rap. But I'll take Trent Reznor's Professional Beats and Lyrics over some Joe Schmoe that's too lazy to take a class.

Money would be a different thing, though. Can't fault someone for not being able to afford it.

I'm sure Reznor learned more about making music when he was working at a radio station and playing in multiple bands than he ever did in school. Theres more to music than knowledge of how it should be formed. Its really hard to explain.

I totally understand that. Experience is a better learning tool, but the knowledge never hurts.

You really don't need to explain it. It's the same with Video Production and why I quit going to school. Too much money for something that I could learn while in an actual studio. But I always wished I could have finished just to have the degree.
