you'd be laughed at till the end of times if you tried to submit fanfiction to a publisher
original plot or not, the original material, characters, setting, all that jazz, is still copyrighted
yes, I know what Fan Fiction is. But, there is a Fan Fiction site with original stories and characters created by the writer and not taken from any other sources a fully original work.
What I am asking is, if someone posted an original ambient amateurish story online could he turn around and get it published or even stolen by another?
I am not saying I would steal it. I am asking b/c I keep hearing people saying not to post original works online or it will get stolen and copyrighted by someone else. I was just curious how likely that could be.
I am actually looking for a writers site to share my stories and not to steal someone elses.

you do have to pay if you wanna enter it into this contest they always have going on there your story is read and rated and if it wins, it gets published
