While i can see why you didn't like it as much as the others, i see those same things and think, wow, i never woulda thought of that. It is simple, and yet it is the perfect ending. Every way we thought it would end was just grasping in the dark, because, as i see it, the bros took what we had thought, and expounded upon it in a new and exciting way. This made me very happy as a 'consumer'. Also, i don't mean to sound rude, however, how much shorter would you have made the siege? i mean, in LotR it takes all night for the Orcs to seige Minas Tirith(?) and they still can't take it. a few hours of fighting by the Zionites and the machines is not long at all...
Thanks for your understanding, you're right that scene didn't seem as long now that I think about. Let the record state I'm not bashing, in fact I WISH I COULD love it as much you guys do. Thanks again.
I just wanted to point out some valid points in response to some of your reasons. I do respect your opinion though.
This is something that I've addressed before. Revolutions was not your traditional movie, and this is because traditional movies are self contained. Each movie goes through standared literary steps of characterization, plot building, climax, and then conclusion.
The thing is - this movie was only climax and conclusion! There was never any intent for character building because that had already been taken care of. Many people are not used to that, and their minds reject it as a lack of a good story. You can compare it to the first matrix built (not the first movie) - the sublime reality where everyone was supposed to be happy, yet "entire crops were lost." because they rejected the programming. :P I suspected when I saw it many would have a problem dealing with that, but it's not a fault, it's a preference.
Just consider that the first movie was not supposed to have such a concluded ending, but because they did not know if they were going to be able to make the 2nd and 3rd movies, they did. That means much of the reintroduction to the characters in the second movie wouldn't have happened, so the character building wouldn't have been quite as strong as it was.
I'm flattered that you liked my explination (or atleast appear to have enjoyed it). Though you did spell my handle wrong...I forgive you! LoL Yes this movie was filled with questions that were intentionally left as riddles, left open, and basically and quite explicitly not answered. This isn't a flaw, like you even say, it's surrealism - like Omega has often tried to inform about!
This becomes paradoxial. If they show more of the Matrix, they are going to loose some of what the conclusion is. Also, they would just be showing Smith taking over people, or Neo being unable to be defeated.
The fight scenes at this stage of the story (if you put all three together) become almost out of place, while the fight scene with Zion happened exactly as I expected, a strong but futile resistance.
You've got a pretty level view to the movie, and I wish you could have enjoyed it as much as I, but atleast you're not out to bash those who loved it like some people within these forum walls.
I think that the movies could have been enjoyed more completely by others if the third movie had been released sometime like next year. But I still think it was a great movie.

Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you could not wake from that dream?
Who has the time? But then we can never have time if we never take time!
Ok...caught your correction, you spelled it right. :P Wish I'd caught that sooner.
BTW I never thought you were bashing, and like I said, you seem to have a really level point of view, and I only wish you could have enjoyed it as much as I.

Omega if you read my post again you will clearly see that I said " the powers that be want to tone me down" in other words I am who I am. i did not mean to deliberately do anything....that's just who I am. Often when ppl jump to conclusions they are dead wrong, this goes to prove it.
I am toning myself down because I like to hear the opposite side's opinion and I also have respect for the mods. Heh...respect, imagine that being respected for your different opinion on a subject jee I wish I knew what that felt like.
Oh BTW meta that cheap pop in your post is exactly what I would expect from someone like you. Im right here tough guy speak directly to me...surely you can do better.

I think that you are really a fan of the matrix you would enjoy it just because but if you just went to see it and you didn't even understand the first or second then i think you would not enjoy it

the worst film was the third one , all this film was about was a computer virus(smith ) and neo was the antivirus software, simple when you think about it , ive read disscusions on this film and some people live the matrix GET A LIFE theres no maybe about it its just a film sort it out
Everybody is entitled to their opinions, but there's no need to start an all out war because some think it's good and others don't.
I bought Revolutions on DVD. I was dissapointed with the movie, but I just had to finish off the collection.
The first Matrix is awesome, everything about it I loved. I understood it, I got it, it's easy, just "free your mind".
The second film, hmm, still great.
Third film? I felt totally underwhelmed by the whole thing. Uncharasmatic characters doing lifeless actions with lifeless speech.
If these mindless drone robot people were the last surviving humans - then the war was already lost. At least Neo had somewhat of a character in the first one - I couldn't stand any of the characters by the time 3 rolled on.
Cheesy lines like "She'll do it, she's in love" almost had me reaching for the cyanide.
Honestly people, there's no need to over defend the movies. I don't see why people have to love or hate the movies. I feel indifferent, stuck somewhere in between the "hate" world and the "like" world.
Smith was brilliant in all 3 films. That's about it. By the end of the trilogy I really didn't care. I honestly wanted the machines to destroy our human race - because I'd rather die than live with those obnoxious people. Such rubbish, boring characters by the end. I used to think Morpheus was really cool, but by the end of the trilogy he had become incredibly lame.
I could watch the first Matrix and listen to the trilogys music all day, but as far as films go, 2 and 3 are pretty crap.
This was going to be the year of the Matrix. More like the year of the Matrixzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!
god, how is it possible that all that money, all that alleged expertise and all that technology could result in a trilogy of such mind-boggling ineptitude and arse-numbing banality? Two arrogant, self-deluded hacks posing as hollywood directors, with one half-decent flick to their name - Bound - decide to change the rulebook of action movies by introducing to us the money shot to end all money shots - the bullet-time sequence which supposedly is such an amazing thing that we'll forget about the huge canyon-sized holes in the plot and say nothing about it.
What total arse!
The Matrix - as in, the first one, was a decent SF action flick when it wasn't trying to preach to us about the universe and use long words. In short, the film tried to astound us AND preach to us...not a good mix.
Then, the sequels came along...
Reloaded - a remember walking out and scratching my head - believe me, i wasn't alone! What twaddle! A car chase whose CGI looked more like Looney Tunes and a sequence with some bearded cretin that totally went over the head of everybody who saw it. I mean, did these two hacks actually think that we'd WANT to listen to that?
Revolutions - achieves the impossble by actually being WORSE than its less-than-illustrious predecessor. I remember reading about Joel Silver stating that the film would change the film world forever and had raised the bar of action films. My answer to that is....HUGE SNORT! LOTR managed to raise the action bar AND the CGI bar and STILL engage its audience over a much longer running time.
well, you, sir, are entitled to your opinion, but did you really hate it so much to warrant this kind of backlash? i mean, come on...it wasn't trying to 'preach' at you, but it does open your eyes to other cultures and how small this world is...and you are making accusations that have no basis in real life...'some bearded cretin that totally went over the head of everybody who saw it' is incorrect, as i understood it the first time i saw it, as did many others that have joined this forumin the past year, and even those that were here before it came out. I absolutely loved revolutions the first time i saw it in the theatre on Nov 5th, and have grown to love it even more as i have unraveled deeper mysteries than were seen upon first glance. I think that, if you stay around here, you will too, but that is just my opinion...
JediHDM, lets say it will take about 10 generations (approximately 250 years) before almost all the people of The Matrix will be freed. I wouldn't call that the end of The Matrix, would you? I think, there would be too many variables in that time span that it would probably take longer to unplug the human population, if ever. The war could restart again by humans who have a deep hatred against the machines for keeping them as slaves. The machines could realize there might not be any other viable source of energy other than humans. The cloud cover blocking the sun could worsen and may not be able to be fixed or bypassed. There may be humans who want The Matrix to exist and may want the machines as there masters (Cypher really wanted to become a movie star). In that time, another iteration of The One could appear. Which was stated by the Oracle at the end of Revolutions. With another One in the equation, how long before Smith reappears again? That means Neo's work was not completed. In my opinion, Neo is more like a Ghandi or Martin Luther King Jr. than a messiah or savior.
This just raises too many uncertainties than conclusions. I know The Matrix Online game will be coming out to see what happens after Revolutions, but I thought the trilogy was finished? And there have been so many fans, myself included, that have been disillusioned on how the series ended (if it ended, how come it’s still going on), how many do you think are going to buy the game to see what happens next in The Matrix? I know some of you will say it is only the end of the Neo/The One storyline, in that case the movies should have been about the final and last One. Because it will be him/her who will set everyone free. I believe there will be a coming of another One and the movies should have been about him/her. It would be that person who ultimately frees the human race from The Matrix. In my opinion, Neo is more like a Ghandi or Martin Luther King Jr. than a messiah or savior.
wow...where to start, where to start...i'm not arguing that it won't take long to free all the humans, i am saying it may take hundreds, if not a few thousand years, to completely put the matrix to rest. But i don't thin another iteration of the One will come about. I believe that the One is simply the collective doubt of those still in the matrix having nowhere to go, so it is funneled into one man, the anomaly. If those that have doubts, even unconcious ones, are freed, then the One will not be needed again...the trilogy is finished, rather, the story of Neo and trinity and Morpheus is finished. It is about the final One. Neo was the one to free humanity, even if he is not alive when the last humans are freed. Neo stopped the cycle, left the destiny of humanity up to humanity, not the machines. And the ending is open like many anime are. This trilogy was done in the style of anime, and it shows in the ending. also, the ending of the trilogy was as it had to be, for everything to work out.
