The only thing I can think of when it comes down to story, dramatics via acting, and choreography are from Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
A New Police Story and Fearless captivated me more out of everything else i've seen. And these were versions from china before they were edited/distributed to north america.

Guys can you please help me find one movie I was looking for so many years now, I saw it only when I was a little kid, but only here is what stuck in my mind from it. The movie starts with one guy walking near the forrest, or rather just on some sand, and sudenly he is attact by two killers, who came right from the underneath the sand with knifes I believe, one after another, and they both were ordered to kill him, and they did, so then starts the real movie, and those assasins are shown maybe few more times durint the movie, but the main actor later kills them.
Now it's tough for me to find that movie cose I don't know who the main actor was, I don't know how the movie goes after that first scene, but I do know it's definitely not bruce lee, nor it is a jackie chan movie...
Talking about best kung-fu movies of all times, I will say Drunken Master and Snake in the Eagles Shadow by Jackie, I can watch those two movies forever
P.S. I really hope someone can help me with the movie I'm looking I would really appreciate that.
does anyone here know of any kung fu movies that have the cool synth sounds like the ones used in kill bill ,also blod of the dragon is an old one i can think of that has the same synth sounds .I love that stuff .Let me know if you guys can think of any older kung fu flick that have the same kind of sounds . Thanks email me directly if you like [email protected]
I just can't beleive that nobody has bothered to mention The Avenging Warriors of Shoalin. How can you not love that movie? Even the villain were cool. The fight scene at the in with the four heroes vs the four villians with each of them specialized in their own exotic weapon. To me this is the best kung fu movie of all time.
has anyone heard of a movie called American Monk??? Every time I search for that title, I end up at a dead end...Apparently there's a book by that name...but my friend SWEARS it's the right name. I found a documentary that sounded like it could be a match, but it's not a documentary...the story line involves a kid who's a boxer and in the match he gets depantsed by his opponent, who's a really amazing fighter. The kid is so embarrassed he approaches a kung fu master to teach him but they refuse him cuz he's American. Eventually he learns Kung fu and beats the trash out of the depantsing guy. Sound familiar?? any help would be awesome, cuz I don't have a clue about this one.
Anyone see movies by Jacky Wu (Wu Jing)? There's some pretty intense fight scenes in SPL and Invinsible Contact. While he hasn't studied as many forms as Jet Li, his application and speed is impressive. Vincent Zhao in the Once Upon a Time in China series is also awesome. Wing Chun with Michelle Yeoh/Donnie Yen and Jet Li's Fong Sai Yuk are also some of my favorites.
the only thing i dont like about iron monkey is the different speeds of the fight scenes,, i mean come on donnie yen can kick fast enough as it is... they didnt need to fast forward it
All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I **** like you wanna ****, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not.
I am Extremely Shocked that no one said SHOWGUN ASSASSIN.
My personal favorite is def Snake In Eagles Shadow.
As for modern films The Protector is Superb, there is a 5 minute uncut sceen of pure blitzkrieg kung fu. Tony Ja is sick you have to watch that and the making of it Sickning!
hey gang, new to the forum and im hopin someone can help me with a movie i saw when i was a kid in the 80's. i remember the good guys were following a trail with clues showing them the way to go. there were guys with different techniques of course- one guy threw a blade-chain thing, one guy was strong enough to twist and split boulders in his hands, another guy had a tiger style i think and he could leap high into treetops. that's pretty much all i remember. lol
