A slightly earlier Select pic

The official site has posted a slightly earlier pic this week, one of a triple-engined ship going through Hyperspace. Pretty cool, although I can't work out what the square is there for.

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

I guess they posted it earlier because it's a holiday.

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

Who's ship do you think it belongs to? It looks like a Republic ship, similar to the Cruiser from TPM.

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

This select is quite clever as it uses it's own image to hide the important details.

If you look at the central rectangle you will see it is actually a smaller version of the main picture. It has been reduced and strategically placed to cover the bigger image of the ship in order to hide details of the vessel.

My initial thoughts were that this was the Nubian from Episode-I but then I realised that it had one engine too many, the Nubian had two wing mounted sublight engines whilst this has a third central engine.

Maybe it iis an enhanced version of the Nubian, maybe the next itineration of the Nubian design???

I think the cloud like areas are supposed to reprtesent Hyperspace, that's where you can see that central image is a smaller version of the main one.

Not much enhancement can be done, which is a major shame. Oh well, nice picture, good tea. Come back next week.....

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

Well spotted RC.
Shame there's not really much to discuss about the pic apart from who the ship might belong to.

Yeah, TFN have got it into their heads that it's a Sith ship because it's engine coroan is green just like Mauls was????

I thought the corona was actually blue, looking at it again I think it's just a Old Republic cruiser as seen at the beginning of Episode-I.

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

However, it is a little hard to tell how big it is. If you imagine its the size of a fighter then it would seem a more elegant stealthy ship. It doesn't look particularly evil so I wouldn't say it is a Sith ship.

TFN also said how it looks strange having the large spine thing at the bottom as it would not be able to land, so when you turn the pic upside down it makes more sense. I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet.

I would like to point out on the previous pic...while the shorter figure appears to be a jawa and the taller figure appears to be anakin...there's only one sun in the sky that I can see. Ahem. smokin'

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

They'll obviously put the second one in during post production. Besides, perhaps the 2 suns don't always have to be side by side. Maybe they sometimes come far apart and one may be in view of the camera while the other isn't.

And here with tonight's weather....outer rim meteorologist DD !! Okay, maybe digitally added later..stick out tongue , but wouldn't the suns have to be the same distance from each other all the time (like cause of gravity between the suns). rolling on floor laughing

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

Hmmm good point. Plus, I can't figure out how Tatooine would orbit both of them if they keep changing positions. Lets just stick with the post-production excuse then.

Okay, I'll compromise with you on this one. Post production insertion. PPI for short. Kind of sounds like a surgical term. Ouch. sick

I was just gonna say that I can't remember a shot of on Tatooine where both suns weren't right next to each other.

Back to my big book of the universe (AKA The New Atlas of the Universe by Patrick Moore), they call that a Binary Star System. Both stars revolve around themselves witha common center of gravity and any planets/saterlites rotate around the pair.

Just thought I'd mention it. cool

Re: A slightly earlier Select pic

Hmmm, the newest pic is pretty dull. Reminds me of Select No. 3, just a senate official from TPM sitting in a possible interior of Coruscant.

But at least this one appears to be fully made up and everything. The previous one was only half in costume.
