Not necessarily Cat, but the 4.0 patch that will essentially be a live beta before the actual expansion hits. 4.0 pre-downloads have been churning in the patch downloader the last couple weeks, so it can't be more than a month or so off.

Wiat a second... Hunters are losing their mana? I really should read up on these things. My Hunter is about 1/4 of a level of reaching the Outland... it's been a long time coming.
yeah, hunters will get something like, 100 focus or energy or whatever it is that rogues get.
i dont get why everyone was so whiny about mana problems, im sorry sirs, but i raided ICC i never once ran out of mana.
hunters had aspect of viper and viper sting for a reason.
also, potions. and ok, higher end gear did gimp the mana bar, but still, if there is a full raid, chances are the hunter isnt the person doing the only DPS you can back off for a bit to recharge, if the group mocks you for your lack of DPS just be all "hmm.. run out of mana and use only auto shot, Or switch to viper, its less dps overall, but you're right, autoshot is way more important than using attacks, so i'll just stick to that" or if the group still gets in your face, do what i used to do(when we ran with pugs) put on RP gear that gives you a shitton of mana, and get in in there with a sword, spam wing clip. either they'll boot you, or shut the hell up.
either way, its good fun.
raiding doesnt have to be srs bsns.
not gonna lie, half the group i ran with sucked, but they were good people which is why i ran with them, it was fun to raid with them, we'd shoot the shit and call each other gay. pallies would switch to shockadin, hunters would go BM, mages would get in melee, wah! good times. get better dps from a group of level 60s, but it was all in good fun.
once it started to become srs bsns i stopped playing.

Mana isn't an issue at all for hunters. Low on mana switch to Aspect of the Viper... Problem solved. It's not like switching completely kills your DPS and as soon as mana is recharged you can switch right back to Dragonhawk.
I have a friend nagging on me to return to WoW, last time I played was in November, has anything new been added to the game since then making it worth my time to return now, before cataclysm? Any new cool questchains or designchanges?
Hunters have never really complained about mana, since vanilla at least. The only complaints are those who don't want to switch to focus.
One mechanic is as good as the next for me, so I don't particularly care.
Morri, there's tons of new changes, but I can't really say about quest chains. The new starting zones for Goblin and Worgen promise to be excellent, but quests are quests, imo, and I have been following other changes much more closely.
Well, no, but Cata isn't far off. The 4.0 patch that will make a lot of the changes (like hunters to focus and the new talent trees, for example) is due to hit in a couple weeks (give or take, as per Blizzard's norm). Cata itself should drop no later than early December, judging by leaked info and data.
Your inquiry seemed directed at changes or additions, so that's why I mentioned it. There's not much point in discussing the cursory changes to this expansion since you last played (I suppose the new raid content like ICC ans RS is the only big change), since they will be irrelevant soon, and the majority of Cata is already on the PTR's.

All the old world changes outside of the Wargen and Goblin starting areas and the new level 80+ zones are going to be put up before Cata comes out, these are all free changes that everyone will be able to experience regardless of whether or not they have Cata.
That too. Apparently the gnomes and trolls are getting cities that I'd like to see. I haven't seen or heard of them officially, but the current world-quest chain that they introduced recently alludes to this, as you help to reclaim their respective homelands so that they can rebuild and such.
Yeah, my question was whether or not there is any point in returning to WoW now, instead of waiting for the start of December. So you mentioned a new questchain directed toward the Gnome and Worgen start areas?
Yeah but it's a short one. You'd be just as well off reading the synopsis on Wowhead or something.
It wouldn't be a horrible idea to join now to get used to the pre-Cata changes going up in a couple weeks. But no harm in holding off until the expansion itself.
On the other hand, the cataclysm itself, will it magicly happen during the installation of the huge patch, or might there be an event to show the world changing? Like the big AQ and first Naxxarams events.
