When we're dealing with such an argument, we have to consider:

1) The likelihood
2) The plausibility
3) The defense

The likelihood is near zero, the plausibility worse, and Thor's defense is a big question mark. He could very well survive such a phenomenon, since he's a supernatural deity that defies physical laws, and black holes tend to job in comics.

You keep making arguments that involve the Surfer staying away from a direct confrontation with Thor. As do most SS fans. It's quite telling.

When has the Surfer done this? Besides never, I mean. OTOH, Thor starts out at a level of strength that makes the Surfer's jaw drop (see their first encounter).
I'm the type that argues a good point until it is beaten. I have consider other alternatives but I favor the unbeatable one most. Why is the likelihood near zero? Surfer has done it on multiple occasions and thus since he fights to the best of his abilities he can and will use it if necessary. Thus it's plausible as well.

I disagree. Surfer is far more powerful than he's ever been. I wouldn't be surprised if he is stronger than Thor without amping. He fared more impressive against Bill and Hulk than Thor ever did. He can probably almost one shot him with a punch like he did Bill. You are forgetting that he has shields, can phase, can use his board to attack, can amp far beyond Thor, etc.

Surfer creates a black hole? Thor shrugs, overpowers it, and rips Surfer's head off.

I lol'd at Surfer beating Thor through energy absorption though. Surfer always says a little prayer before engaging Thor, hoping that the Odinson never turns Mjolnir's energy absorption directly against him as it would pretty be the end of that bald and glinting bastard.
Thor can't make the hammer teleport. The hammer automatically teleports when trapped in another dimension. And who is arguing that Thor won't get his hammer back? It will be trapped for a moment (at least several seconds). That's enough time to do some serious hurting to Thor.

Thor can't survive a black hole. He will be ripped to subatomic particles.
I believe that Mjolnir can absorb a lot of forms of energy. But that doesn't means its sucking power is greater than Surfer's. What I mean is that the force in which it absorbs energy is not necessarily great just because it was shown to absorb multiple forms of energy.

I'm pretty sure it has absorbed vast amounts of energy... remember it being discussed in some cross genre thread...

But I'll let Rage cite the examples. That way you'll get annihilated.

Why would you say that?

It never fails to amuse me how you just randomly declare shit and it's always up to everyone else to prove otherwise.

Thor won't only survive a black hole, he'll grab it, compress into the size of a baseball and toss it at Surfer, killing him upon impact.

No person or object can suck greater than Surfer, I'll agree with you on that one.

Also, you have no idea what you're talking about. Surfer would be lucky to absorb a Star worth's of energy. At the very least, it'd be a very good day for him. Mjolnir's energy absorption operates on a Galactic scale.

It like a side effect of the Power Cosmic.

God I hope Thor destroys Surfer, weakened or not.

Highly unlikely as I've said times have changed and been far better recently than for Thor.

Mighty Thor #4 early preview:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?...iew&id=9084

Quick thoughts:
- It's obvious Thor being weakened is going to play a major role, but at bare minimum we deserve a badass fight where the two give it their all.

- I lol'd at Thor speeding past Surfer and going straight for Galactus.

- Not really sure what the the hell that purple energy is. Ambient Cosmic Energy? If independent, I'm guessing they're the generic Power Cosmic fodder that the generic Asgardian fodder will battle.

- Not particularly fond of Thor rocking the armor though. I get the entire techno/mystical meshing but knowing some idiots, sooner or later we'll have arguments that Thor can't survive in space unaided.

- The art is gorgeous.

Rage is just trying to cushion the blow if the Surfer comes off looking better.

Is it just me or is this fight not getting the hype it should be?

I mean, Surfer and Thor are easily the top two High Heralds in Marvel and alongside Superman, two of the top three High Heralds in comics, period.

You would think that this would be hyped up the wazoo.

Definitely possible considering how covers and solicits really don't mean shit at times in Marvel.

Either way, whether Thor wins or Surfer or its inconclusive, I'm really surprised Marvel isn't pushing this more. They're probably too busy shoving shields down everyone's throats due to the Cap film. Had "Mighty Thor" been released earlier before the live action film or the film was released later, maybe they would be more willing to promote it.

Facebook, Twitter, its official website, in the pages of other comics, etc.

It's part of the reason why comic book movies make it a sucky time to be a reader because the character in question involved with the film gets a monster push for a moment and then is pushed to the back while Marvel focuses on its next property.

I didn't really notice a monster push for Thor leading up to his movie honestly.

I think he was treated kind of mundanely.

I noticed it up until the film was actually released, actually. He had tons of one shots and minis being released followed by the news of relaunched Journey into Mystery and the new Mighty Thor series.
