I can see and understand your point. But the way it works for me, wherever my favorite player goes, thats the team I root for. Kinda wierd. As I've said though, I'm not sure if I'll be able to leave LA, they've been my fav for the past 8 years. First, I liked them because Shaq went there, then, I began to like the others players, once Kobe joined, oh and remember Nick Van Exel once played for LA, I got to love him too. Sooner or later, I fell in love with the whole team. I don't know if I can leave LA. I guess wherever Shaq goes, I'll like that team as well.
I wasn't trying to offend you or the Lakers, Link. I've loved LA because Shaq went there 8 years ago, it evenutally became a team thing so yes I am a fan of the Lakers. It's not just Shaq, it's a team, but to me Shaq has always been the heart and soul of LA and without him, it's like the Spirit is missing.
Dallas isnt gonna give up Nowitski... they would have to to get the deal done..... but i was watching Sports Center on ESPN and they asked Mark Cuban about it and he said he would like to get Shaq but he is not trading Nowitski
I HIGHLY doubt it would happen, but there was "small" rumor that would have Portland send Theo and Shareef plus whatever else is needed salary wise for Shaq. Again, I don't believe this will happen.

Cuban shouldn't trade Nowitzki for anoyone, give up nash and finley for shaq, maybe someone else, but not Nowitzki. A 7-footer with the ability to shoot from the outside is PRICELESS, especially with how well Dirk does it. Combine that with Shaq's power, and a decent point guard who can distribute the ball, and you've got a conference championship team.

That would be a terrible trade for the Lakers. That would mean their biggest player would be Slava Medvedenko...and they would have to look to this years draft for a rookie, or take a stab at free agency. It's bad enough the Lakers only have one center as it is, getting rid of Shaq without a big man to exchange would be a big mistake. Why take Finley when Kobe will almost undoubtably resign with LA?
And I don't think a Nowitski/Shaq combo would be that affective because Nowitski can't clean up the offensive glass and he still can't guard western conference power forwards. Shaq's also too slow to run the Dallas offense.
move Kobe to Small Forward and put Finley at Shooting Guard.
You have it backwards. Nowitzki runs the offense, Shaq cleans up the boards, and goes to work down low, Nowitzki plays small forward anyway, not power.
That wouldn't be good. Put Kobe out of position? Plus Payton is staying for sure so they don't need Nash. Not that Nash wouldn't be good for LA, he just isn't needed.
Anyway, looks like an interview with Kobe is the last step in the hiring process with Rudy T.

Out of position?? If he is as good as everyone says he is, he shouldn't have a problem(another Kobe/Jordan comparison here, Jordan played the 1,2, and 3 spots very well, but Kobe is supposedly as good as he is, and he's stuck at the 2 spot?)
kobe does play the 3 spot sometimes but he wouldnt make a very good 1 and jordan did not play the 1 spot he might have brought the ball up court sometimes but that dont make him a 1 pippen played the 1 more than jordan
norowtzki for shaq would be a good trade.. norowitzki can score but he cant play defense like link said...and givent up nash would be crazy even though it might happen..he;s the only player on that team that actually does play defense and is very unselfish those kinda plyaers arent easy to come by in the NBA

why in the world would you let Nowitski sit there huffing up shots all day, and then leave the grunt work of hussling for rebounds to the most dominant big man in the game.
Shaq isn't a high energy player any more. He doesn't even fight for position...he either has it, or doesn't. And Shaq's FG% is much better than Nowitski's.
Any team Shaq's on has to run the offense through Shaq. He's just THAT dominant. And he'll b!tch like a mad man if not treated as the best player in the league....let alone the team.
dallas cant get shaq without givin up nowotski i dont think thats possible salary wise....it likes like the mcrgrady/francis deal is gonna happen but is mrcgrady really gonna be that much of an improvement than francis?

I think he will. Francis has been less than impressive since Yao appeared on the scene. Mobley has been a bigger factor....for the most part. I think McGrady is going to cherish the fact that he's in on a better team with a good big center. As long as T-Mac is willing to try and work with Yao...then i think Houston will be better off.
