I still kind of see him as the "bad boy," even though he's supposed to be very polite and sweet. He seems to have a rebel edge to him and I think that attracts a lot of women to him, the fact that he seems dangerous. The tattoos, the avoidance of Hollywood and being a typical A-list celebrity, the clothes- all give him an air of mystery. Now that he's a dad and deeply in love with Vanessa just makes him more appealing.

As I don't think Johnny Depp is "hot," or even very attractive, I can answer this question somewhat objectively.
I think the "bad boy" persona - or rather, the fact that Depp is a "recovered bad boy" is extremely attractive to women. There's nothing more attractive than a reformed sinner. He also has a lean yet muscular body, which women are attracted to, and a mysterious air in the public, which they are also attracted to. Johnny Depp has the ability to be smart and give jokes when he's being interviewed, so that's a plus for a sense of humor.
He is very talented. I admire Depp for his acting abilities.
So when you add everything up... talent, fame, mystery, sense of humor, body, reformed sinner....
Yeah. A lot of women are going to be attracted to him.

He can disappear into a role. He's not like Brad Pitt or George Clooney in that they're almost always playing themselves. Johnny, based on the movies I've seen him in, truly tries to transform into whoever he's playing. He cocks his head differently, uses his hands differently, and isn't afraid to try new things. He's one of the most talented actors out there.
