I do have one thing positive to say about the Toxin #1: At least you can see the artwork clearly. I liked Venom/Carnage 1-4, but the who "dark" atmosphere and lack of lighting made it hard for me to enjoy the art.
Anyway, for Toxin to succeed, Pat & his symbiote need to have some conflicts amongst themselves and some character development. And has Marvel forgotten that Venom is supposed to have an offspring too?
Just a curiousity, why did a sym bond with a cop who is supposed to be good? I can understand a sym bonding with Brock and Kasady who are complete nutcases but with this guy?
Symbiotes have no sense of good or evil so that wouldn't matter. And it bonded to the cop because he was the closest host it could join with (after Carnage tried to kill it).

__Good point- they could use Scream. But that's a VERY attenuated connection- and there's no emotional significance to it.
__All they have now, for ANY emotional impact, is Gargan-Venom... He's Daddy? That's so...meh.
__Brock was complex. He would have brought internal conflict to the role of Dadddy, that the sym alone could not.
__Brock wasn't sure he wanted any symbiote living. In all honesty, even his own- that's how it sometimes seemed to me. His violent opposition to other syms began in Lethal Protector when he gave the idea ONE chance. That smacks of projection to me. He was ready to displace his own "evil" qualities onto them. Perhaps he unconsciously hated his partner as much as he loved it, back then.
__A little later, he managed some tolerance of Donna.
__Then they began to submerge him in the sym.
__Well, they should have stabilized that process at some point short of completely expunging him (He may not be dead, but he's not been "heard" for TOO long).
__He should have been in VvsC. I could have seen him trying one last time. Pat is the kind of person who would have appealed to Brock. Pat was not an enemy- but an "innocent" victim.

__Now, Nataku. It's not nice to post our intentions publically. Shame! Remember, let's use our "internal dialogue" when we plot murder...ahem, when we plan other people's tragic suicides.
Just got to thinking, it's considered more than a little weird if you say you love a random stranger but it is not considered at all pathological that you hate total strangers? *dodges rock and mortar fire*
