I know you don't have to be a woman to like it, but I'm sure I got alot more out of the story than you, even if you did enjoy it.
Kiekan--are you a Transformers fan?
The reason I ask is so I can provide an analogy that requires a familiarity with the episode that I'll mention. I think it happens late in the second season, after the creation of the dinobots.
All Transformers on Earth begin to run low on energy and malfunction (or something like that, I can't remember everything) --they will eventually shut down--essentially die, because they lack Cybertonium--an element found on Cybertron and installed in all of the Transformers, EXCEPT the Dinobots, who were created on Earth.
So, the Dinobots go to Cybertron on the Decepticon-built spacebridge to Iacon to get the necessary element to perpetuate the lives of all Transformers on Earth.
The analogy, of course, is to demonstrate that it takes time for certain needs to arise--as in the depletion of (and need for) Phenethylamine by the symbiote. That is the deficiency that caused Venom's hunger and urge for human sweetbreads. I doubt you'll find a more descriptive explanantion on this forum, so I hope it's good enough.
Ahh yes, FreakFest, that'd be when Pike (a villain from the Image comics world, I beleive (could be wrong though)) bonds with a temporary spawn of the Venom Symbiote. It happens at the end of the two part cross over titled 'Spider-man and Backlash'. Which is just that, a cross over with Ben Reilly and Backlash as they team up to fight Venom and Pike (lol, I feel like I'm doing a commercial). Probably my all time favorite Spidey cross over, with some great art and killer action.
As for the Transforms thing, can't same I'm a huge fan or anything, but it's cool. Though, I rather dislike the newer series (the original and several of the Beast Wars series were awesome, though). But that analogy is perfect. Thanks a bunch.

I liked beast wars and how it tied in with the old series. I also liked the old transformers. anyone remember the one before the minicons were introduced? thats what I thought. that one sucked. NOW GET ON TOPIC!!

Those are very good points. It's just, I dunno, Spidey and Venom saving each other seems kind of cliche to me these days. As for Venom appreciating Spidey's help, it's a given. If it's after the "Hunger" storyline, I could say that Venom would be willing to help Peter because he saved Eddie's life (but then again, he also doomed him and the symbiote to live with cancer for the rest of their lives). If it's before that, then Eddie would absolutely hate Spidey for ruining his life, as well as for his ex-wife's suicide. It just seems kinda contradictory for Venom to see Spidey as an ally one moment and then want him dead the next. But, that's what makes Venom so complex, so I can appreciate it in a way.
I never did read Carnage Unleashed. I've been looking for it in the back issue bins, but can never seem to find it. And even though Spidey didn't need Venom to help him in the Cosmic Carnage story, he did need Silver Surfer. I'd rather have Spidey beat Carnage one on one, or at least attempt to, without having to be rescued. Let's remember, this is the man who took on the Juggernaut single-handedly. I have a good idea how I'll end this story, though. It won't involve any heroes saving Spidey's butt, though.
