they are both very good, and to compare to how many movies!!!!!!! that would be the most stupidest reason ever to compare by "how many movies they made!!" they have as many characters, places, but more cool sword battles, admit it

Well, I have this to say, To be able to make an accurate comparrison of the two, one would have to have read all the books from both sides, watched all the movies from both sides and know every possible thing to know about each side, the only thing every one else can say about it is their own oppinion on the two and oppinions are meaningless in a debate. If they had meaning in a debate then no debate would be able to be won by reason and would end up being won because 10 more people liked Star Wars more than Lord of the Rings. Oppinions in debates only lead to squabling amoung each other.
Lord of the Rings is VASTLY superior. Why? 'Cause Lucas can't write a script for shit. That's why. Nevermind the story of LotR is a little easier to follow.
Unlike Jackson, Lucas didn't have an already written fictional story in his hands. He had to create his world as he went along with the making of Star Wars. While he may not have particularly designed the make-up and appearance of the characters himself, he did design their personalities, and blessed them with an identity. No doubt, Star Wars would be non-existing had it not been for Lucas. Jackson, however, did not create the LOTR. He only directed it, and placed it into a different light.
They both are amazing stories, but Star Wars has had much more of a personal legacy to me than LOTR ever did. However, Jackson is a much better filmaker than Lucas (who is a great innovator) could ever hope to be.

Wow, what a stupidass thing to say. More then half of the diolouge in the movies came directly from the book. And two thirds of the events came from the book. Jackson didn't do even half of the work that GL did.
