well theres things in the game that make it spoil itself, like having such a low amount of mana that you cant barely cast many spells, how is someone suppost to be a mage if they can only cast a couple of spells, its ridiculous, whats cheap is that it seems that as you get higher level like into the 30's the enemies become so powerful that a mage not equiped with good gear like the mages robe is pretty hard to play as
Also surely me being the most powerful wizard in my game, Archmage and champion of cyrodil, in realism the most powerful wizard should easily be able to annihlate a simple minataur with a single blast, its not really a cheat, its basicalyl something that SHOULD be there anyway and players have just added it, but to be the most powerful mage in Cyrodil and not be able to cast hardly any spells is an outrage
But I agree with the whole mage thing. Generally, being a mage is risky in an RPG. You can always hack the hell out of a monster as a fighter, but spell points/mana/etc. is usually an issue. Isn't maxing your intelligence and willpower enough? I'm taking a fighter-ish route so I don't really know (I basically only heal myself with spells at this point).
It does seem that Mana is in evere shortage. Mana increases linearly by stat, but spells costs inmcrease at a much higher rate.
There are a few borken numbers in fact- for example, the second healing spell is much less efficient than the first, rendering it almost totally pointless.

indeed its a problem, i have max intelligence and willpower but my spells are too weak to be effective against higher level monsters, ive enchanted my stuff with +50 magicka and i still only have 310 magicka, its ridiculous, so i used a few buffs and downloaded the robe mod so i can get about 1000 which is actually only just enough in most occasions so its still not 100% victory, especially since ive downloaded some mods with VERY hard enemies in them
I got to the grove where they're supposed to be, I beat the ice-beasty (tough fight, actually...more so because I couldn't teleport my panther into the magical grove to help out). And I walked literally everywhere, and tried everything, and there's no "tears" anywhere. Just Garridan stuck in an ice block with another ice-beasty.
Not a huge deal, but I was curious.
P.S. Starting to see what you mean about mana shortage...and I've even a Breton with fortified magic.
P.P.S. I love my panther (even though I've said this before). I've lost track of how many times she's saved me, and just become convinced I wouldn't be able to beat the game without her (I'm running the Obscuros mod so a lot of things are tougher than normal).
I think there are 5 tears there, they are very ****ing small, use nighteye, helps somewhat, they are placed :
1. North of the ice statue, inside the icefog, kind of close to the rocks surrounding the statue and on the ground.
2. South of the ice statue, same describtion.
3. East of the ice statue, same describtion.
4. West of the ice statue, same describtion.
5. On the rocks surrounding the icestatue, it's somewhere on the right (if your back is turned on the the door you came from) and if you can't find this last one it might be cuz it sometimes spawns inside the rocks and then you'll have reload a saved file .
We are pleased to announce that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be a launch title for the PS 3 and that The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion will be released on the PSP in 2007. Check out the complete details in Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine’s exclusive cover story, which hits newsstands Oct. 10 and read the full
press release here.
I suggest when you reach level 10(assuming you aren't there yet, but i'm sure most of you are way past that) to do the Nocturnal Deadra Shrine quest. It gives you the skeleton key, which gives you 40+ Security, and it is an unbreakable lockpick. It's great.

I was reading that yesterday, doesnt really seem all that good for an expansion....a few extra items, a quest or two...considering all the stuff thats in it has already been released....they couldnt have tried any harder?
There's no "best". Just do what you like to do. If you like magic, be a mage, if you want to sneak, be a thief, if you want to just run in and beat things, make a warrior type. All are good.
Damn straight its worth it. Hell, I dont know why anyone wouldnt have this game on 360.
Race/skills dont really account towards having an edge over your enemies all that much, its how you play that matters. You only get slight racial benefits eg Mana resistance, fire resistance, certain weapon skills..they are pretty evenly balanced. Example, dark elves and redguards are good for melee fighting because they have good weapon skills, but if you play as a mage character, you wont need these skills and therefore your benefits dont matter. The best thing about this game is that there are no rules for establishing a character, you can play anything with anyone.
If you can get a hold of the Oblivion Strategy guide, grab it. I think it cost me around $30AU. It has detailed info on each race, each skill, each class, each quest, its awesome.
