This movie was pretty awful. The hype behind it was insane.

In theaters it kicked ass. But when I got it on DVD. It was like a sorry excuse for a movie.

Yeah, it's kinda weird thinking back when I was excited to see this movie. I enjoy it, it's a fun popcorn flick. I don't know what people were expecting from a monster movie though.

I went to see this movie (when it was out in theaters) expecting nothing more than a good popcorn flick, and that's exactly what I got. It didn't exceed my expectations, but it didn't fall short either. I agree with Wolfie; did you expect oscar material from such a film?

No, but like 2 years ago (was it?) I was younger and I was expecting with all the hype it got a good action movie at least. It turned out to be a below average film. With the hype behind it at the time I think we deserved better.

i remember people talking about a van helsing tv. series and a trilogy too. the hype was crazy, it reminded me of the star wars prequel hype. and we all know how much those movies sucked.

Didn't Frankenstein stay with Van Helsing? I thought so, either that or he went on his own. All I know is that the girl dies....

Though I enjoyed the first Van Helsing, a sequel would be very bad. When they set this up, I don't think they had a sequel in mind. They used four of Universal's monsters already, three of them being the most popular. There's nothing left. The next movie would have to use the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Invisible Man, and the Mummy or something.

No! No! No! Van Helsing's bit is he hunts the monsters from the classic Universal monster movies. You can't just throw a witch, a wizard, and some creatures from unrelated movies at him.
