sad...sad that there are so many as gullible as you.

"yes, what Liberties are we not being afforded... "

what a crock of shit. you would allow those in power to pick and choose your liberties? you need to read HISTORY and stop being a blind arrogant bush worshiping fool. "the media" it always comes to that right?

sorry, but i cant debate this any longer. to express a willingness to give up the freedom set in place by the founders of this country is as 'unamerican' as i can think of. sorry, but you need to practice what you preach.

to give up your freedom out of fear is the act of a coward.

Whos more gullible... Sheep to Bush, or Sheep to Media.

Who has more correct information? Top security, or the Media? I'd believe the Media doesn't know what is best for us because it isn't their job. It is the president's job to protect the American people.

PVS, my point is that YOU believe we have lost liberties... EXPLAIN which ones we don't have with the Patriot act.

The patriot act is to connect all the agencies together so they will run more efficient. It isn't "they are taking our privacy" and loop-hole information from our private lives. They were having problems communicating with the existing laws, so now the branches of information and security were improved. It had nothing to do with American liberties.

Higher taxes take my rights and liberties... I don't want communism.

You are "done" means "i'll be back".

As far as the war on terror, it isn't against the trade federation, it is against people that believe they should kill Americans for being free.

That is not the motivation of the terrorists. Stop listening to the bush propaganda machine, and take a look at american foriegn policy over the last 40 years in relation to the middle east.

You accuse PVS of not reading the Patriot act, have you, because if you have and it doesn't worry you than I don't know what to say.

As for me personally, the patriot act does not affect me because I am canadian.

Iraqis civilians killed? Not on purpose.

Oh, in that case I guess it makes it o.k. then. blink

you obviously know NOTHING of the patriot act besides what john ashcroft has told you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Under PATRIOT, civil liberties, especially privacy rights, have taken a severe blow:

The law dramatically expands the ability of states and the Federal Government to conduct surveillance of American citizens. The Government can monitor an individual's web surfing records, use roving wiretaps to monitor phone calls made by individuals "proximate" to the primary person being tapped, access Internet Service Provider records, and monitor the private records of people involved in legitimate protests.

PATRIOT is not limited to terrorism. The Government can add samples to DNA databases for individuals convicted of "any crime of violence." Government spying on suspected computer trespassers (not just terrorist suspects) requires no court order. Wiretaps are now allowed for any suspected violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, offering possibilities for Government spying on any computer user.

Foreign and domestic intelligence agencies can more easily spy on Americans. Powers under the existing Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) have been broadened to allow for increased surveillance opportunities. FISA standards are lower than the constitutional standard applied by the courts in regular investigations. PATRIOT partially repeals legislation enacted in the 1970s that prohibited pervasive surveillance of Americans.

PATRIOT eliminates Government accountability. While PATRIOT freely eliminates privacy rights for individual Americans, it creates more secrecy for Government activities, making it extremely difficult to know about actions the Government is taking.

PATRIOT authorizes the use of "sneak and peek" search warrants in connection with any federal crime, including misdemeanors. A "sneak and peek" warrant authorizes law enforcement officers to enter private premises without the occupant's permission or knowledge and without informing the occupant that such a search was conducted.

The Department of Justice, with little input from Congress and the American people, is developing follow-on legislation - the Domestic Security Enhancement Act (nicknamed Patriot II) -- which would greatly expand PATRIOT's already sweeping powers.

a sad attempt to avoid seeking the truth?

That sounds like someone read the Patriot act was biased against it and rewrote its meaning. What is the source of it? Looks like some democrat's debate points that had nothing to do with the actual act. I know it sounds biased, and I should believe it too?

KharmaDog, good deal, you copy and paste one part "Iraqis killed? Not on purpose." I also said that the US are dropping information to get civilian population out of targeted areas. You like to pick and paste I see. What do you think is the motivation of the Terrorists? They want civilians killed.... that has nothing to do with the US government actions, so why is Osama bent on killing US civilians.

yes, its obviously not true because its not spelled out in a bold 36point typeface. will you wake up please? its true. its not subject to interpretation, its all fact.

you seem to be on a neverending quest to avoid the truth, and doing a damn good job of it.

KARMADOG!!!! DO NOT ANSWER HIS QUESTION, DO NOT LET HIM CHANGE THE TOPIC AGAIN. this has gone on long enough, really.
this is pointless and stupid.

two reasons Kingcoots:

1. Because american civilians elect their leaders and seem to support their actions.

2. Because they feel that middle east civilians have been targeted for many years.

i haven't read the last ooohhhhh say 8 posts, but i just want to remark on something Kingcoot has been spilling out of his mouth.

Quit claiming that Kerry supporters jumped on some sort of media band wagon. As a Bush supporter, you listened to what the media said about there being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, you listened to what they said about Iraq being an immediate threat to national security, and you also foolishly believed that American's would be welcome in that country as liberators and not occupiers.

Bush supporters are more inclined to jump on a media band wagon than Kerry supporters. They believe anything that the man says throught the media.

Don't point the finger at someone else until you can point it at yourself. Bush has swayed the media and lied to them on countless occasions just to keep his vision of "the American way" intact.

Well, if they are going to attack us, the president's job is to use the Defense system in place. It isn't a big surprise that if the US is targeted on purpose, and the president declares war we will attack the people who are responsible for assisting and doing the planning.

It is easy for Canada to sit and criticize the US isn't it? I mean, does Canada have any responsibilities with less defense?

France would be speaking German if the US didn't get involved. The US is looked upon for help, and when it defends itself, it is hated by the world. Sounds like spiderman.

That doesn't make sense, what are you trying to say?

By the way, British, Canadian, Australian and a few other nations had many soldiers who died liberating france and the rest of europe. Don't be so ignorant as to think you did it all in your own. Especially on (what we call here) Remembrance day.
