I just got the DVD, I missed it in the Cinema. It was absolutely amazing and it has inspired me to see the 1933 version and King Kong Vs Godzilla.

Jackson made his own "King Kong". He took what he liked about the original and pretty much doubled it, and complicated it, as if it were his trademark to make nothing but long movies now that LOTR is over.

Opinion.

The story worked FINE when it was simple. There's no more "depth" to this version than the original, unless you mean that we should make like that dumbass "Grizzly Man" and try and bridge a gap between humans and wild animals because "we're all mammals". P.J. pretty much made it a borderline beastiality picture. All Kong and Darrow had to do was ****, and you could call it a day. It was too heavy on the "humanity" of Kong angle. Way too heavy. While he focused on a bizzare love story, he left the supporting cast to rot, with no closure or sense of importance.

Ann doesn't care about Kong because she fell in love with Jack, and she feared for her life. There's no room for some ****ed up simian love triangle. Why would anyone want DRAMA or a LOVE story in a "King Kong" remake, involving KONG himself. There's PLENTY of suspense in the original. Charting off to a forbidden island, coming across a giant ape, not knowing what to expect from the natives, the ape falling for a human woman, Kong rampaging through New York. The element of surprise was VERY MUCH alive in the original, and people actually wondered and moreso cared what happened, unlike me in this one. I found no emotional attachment to anyone.

I can and I do. The almost seamless integration of stop motion animation, which was done by human hands, not super-computers, and human beings was flawless. There were beautiful locales, the Empire State Building with the biplanes and helldivers...everything. Signature scene after signature scene.

I can and I do. Jack Black can't do drama. Adrian Brody was alright, Andy Serkis was funny, and Naomi Watts played a typical damsel in distress. Their acting was modeled after the people of the 30's, which was just..acting. Nothing strenuous.

What do we care about human characters when the main attraction is the ape? That's like going to the circus and complaining about the ringleader. They got neutral looking people for the remake to play stand-along roles. Atleast Fay Wray was absolutely stunning, and nice to look at. The original actors are no better nor worse than those of 2005, IMO. There weren't big name stars in the original, either. Are you familiar with films of the 30's? I am. Most of them are very simplistic, black and white, and rely on dialogue to set the tone of the movies.

The original "King Kong" hasn't recieved good reviews?!?! There wasn't a story? Are you so completely immersed in the new film (and your own opinions) that you're in denial? It's the most influential monster movie of all time! It's No. 204 of 250# greatest movies of all time on IMDB! It was the first movie with a running orchestral store, not using sound library clips! It more or less BIRTHED special effects as we know them today!

I mean..we're all entitled to our opinions, but let's be a little less biased, use what we know, and be a little more fair when juding an American classic like the 1933 "Kong".

OK.

Response#2: How can you possibly think that making the story mre humane made it worse?? That is like saying you want a bland, unemotionally invloving movie. Do you reallthink that have Ann and Kong **** would have had any resolution to the story? Maybe they could in a simplistic film like the original, but the new version the love is much deeper and isn't sexual. Kong doesn't grope Ann while she's passed out like he does in the original. In the original Kong doesn't even love Ann. he just wants to **** her. And, you admit to that Ann doesn't love kong. So, how good can a love story be if the guy wants to rape the girl, and the girl wants to kill the guy.

Response #3: Are you really that isane!! You think the choppy stop motion puppet looked more realistic than the CGI which was based off a real actors movements and facial expressions. you call it flawless. What the hell does that mean? How can you say a special effect is flawless when you can tell what type of effect they are using? If stop motion animation is so flawless how come they didn'tuse it for the remake? And don't say because it was too time-consuming because people make full-length films using stop-motion animation.

Response #4: Over the years acting technique has improved greatly. Again, if the style of acting was so good in the original, how come the actors didn't use the same techniques.

Response #5: Just because other movies that came out at the same time were simplistic doesn't change the fact that the original Kong is also simplistic. All it is is an excuse for why the movie is bad. Do you really think that because Fay Wray is better-looking than Naomi Watts (which I disagree with) means that the original is the better film?

Response #6: No, it didn't recieve good reviews. When it came out, it got mediocre and decent reviews. Critics criticized it for the same reasons I have. It was just an excercise in special effects. Now I know it is hard to look things like this up because it was well before the internet so they don't have many original reviews, but seriously, do a little research before you start insulting people for stating a fact that you don't want to accept. i'm not saying it isn't influential, I'm just saying that the new one is better.
How can you possibly say someone is biased when discussing which movie they like better?

"The New king kong is one of my favorite movies!"

"No it's not your favorite. You're just being biased in its favor because you like it more."

Is that how this conversation is going to go? I like the new Kong better and I have said the reasons why. Obviously I think it's better, that's why I like it more, but it is not like I'm coming up with the greatest film classics and ommiting the old one.

Response#1: Yeah it's my opinion. So what? This is a message board. Posting your opinions is the whole point. However you should support your opinions with facts. So yeah that was my topic sentence which I went on to prove (or tried to prove) using facts. You are intitled to your opinion just as I am. I can't criticize you for it. But I do ask that you do not criticize me for mine. i attacked your opinion, maybe more bluntly than I should have, but I never called you self-absorbed or arrogant as you did to me. I can respect you even if I don't respect your opinion, and I ask that you do the same.

It was great up until the last five seconds. When Jack Black delivered the line...

"It wasn't the planes. It's beauty what kill the beast."

Maybe another actor could have spit it better. It just looked like he was about to crack up.

I was blown away by Naomi Watts though. She was the perfect pick for the role.... and she's hot.

How is going to see something you may like ignorantly wasting your money? That's like saying going to the bathroom & using it is nasty. I happen to think that it doesn't matter how many remakes there are, people don't have to be ''ignorant'' just to go seem them all.

Who all here has the game? I think that it'd be nice for them to make a another game where you play as Kong's son, a V-Rex, Jack or a native in whch you have to survive on the island. It'd be nice to be able to choose between those four although Jack & Kong's son are in the same storyline. This time around Kong's son should be a killer like him and should also be as big as him. A sequel game may be made, Jackson has hinted at it afterall.

What would it take to bring King Kong back and for what purpose? They captured it for publicity=money making. I thought today of cloning him even bigger to fight Godzilla...a suggestion by UN. They kept DNA patterns after the ape died all these years. Just my idea.
