Photoshop 6.0, I really need to upgrade to at least 7.0
Most of the effects I use are actually just brushes on different layers and playing with the blends. And I also like to duplicate the main character image a few times to get rich colors. There are a lot of different things you can do that look awesome but they are really simple techniques.
I wish I could show you the .psd for it, but you'd need Photoshop and also my Photoshop decided to close itself before I could save the .psd version.
The backgrounds are just made up of different types of brushes, mostly grunge. I use 1 layer for black brushes, then a new layer for white brushes. More black than white. Below those though I have a Render Cloud just to give it more depth and thickness.
Then I played around with the Blends until they merged together like I liked them. Over these 3 layers I set a Color Balance to an orange tint to simulate the fire from Mustafar. I set Darth Vader on the image and duplicated him 3 times, I placed one of these under the Color Balance to give Vader the orange tint. The other 2 Vader's had different Blends so that you could see the orange tint from the other one.
I added the text and duplicated that twice and added an Outer Glow to each of those. The bottom most one I gave a larger orange glow, the second name I gave a slightly smaller glow of a lighter orange. The uppermost name I gave a glow of white.
Added a 4 pixel border to the main signature area and Overlayed that.
I found a picture of "the duel" and made a lasso around it with a 5 pixel Feather and copied and pasted it into the signature. I then placed it below some layers and changed the Blend...
