The Black Demon (2023)
Actually relatively enjoyable little self-contained shark thriller. A far better movie than The Meg 2, so it's odd to me that The Meg 2 has a higher rating on IMDB.

Well I found Meg 2 pretty terrible.
Meg: 6-7/10
Meg 2: 4/10
The Black Demon: 7-8/10

Damn!
I’m a Stratham fan, plus the kid who plays his step daughter was super fun, so I enjoyed it.

Different. Interesting take on the original. It has a nightmare before Christmas vibe to it

Candyman (1992)
This legit gripped me! 8/10. I'm planning to watch the 2021 sequel film next, though I know basically nothing about how it was received.

^^^I randomly watched this a couple of weeks ago. It still holds up, plus I’d forgotten a young Virginia Madden was in it and I’ve always had a crush on her.
I haven’t seen the remake, either.

Love these kind of movies. Old fashioned thrillers

I legit dug it, man. I was really with it. I was like, "Okay they're doing this in-depth investigation for a college paper, where is this going to go?" And I did NOT expect the gripping direction it took! I totally did not see it coming. Crazy! I'm doubting the 2021 film will be half as good as the original, but I'm going to give it an honest try because Jordon Peele wrote it and I like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Synopsis: Three best friends become fathers later in life and find themselves battling preschool principals, millennial CEOs and anything created after 1987.
Was meh to just okay. Did laugh at some parts, but not enough to vastly improve the film.
Bill Burr is still funny in standup.

Candyman (2021)
I actually liked some of the twists in the plot, but overall it is certainly inferior to the original; however, the way it builds on top of it is kind of cool. I think it would have benefited from a more consistent tone and more faithful-to-the-original direction.

I had never seen it. It's some kind of fun 90s nostalgia.

^^^It was Charmed before Charmed (by two years though it always gets accused of ripping off the TV show).
Like Charmed it had some babes it it, too!
The black chick was decent, Neve Campbell and Robin Tunny were solid “I’d hit that”s, and Fairuza Balk was bite-your-junk-off psycho looking hot.
Then you had Christine Taylor as racist but very doable bully chick.
Oh yeah, and magic!

VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE
Watched it a couple years ago, and this time out I enjoyed Woody Harrelson’s performance more. He so crazy!
