If you were to split my soul and take away my shell,
You would find 4 different layers, 3 of heaven, 1 of hell.
See the man of blue on a hill, armored with shield and sword?
He is the Knight, the gentleman, and His honor, his life, is his word.
Now look upon the boy there, sitting under the tree.
The dreamer, the child, and the loved, that shall be he,
If you strain your eyes far to the west, you can see number three,
He is my bard, my wanderlust, the poet who travels off so free.
Now the fourth, the darkest life, my flipside of the knight,
His anger is very great, his pain adds to his might,
From the past he was born to bear my burdens heavily,
But he knows of all good things, and is kept in check by the three.
If you were to see past my eyes and past this mask I wear each day,
You'd see them sitting there; What does Your soul have to say?

Had to do a poetry project in High School. First time I ever wrote under a specific guideline. This is my sonnet.
Who dares to speak out against Love, true Love?
How foolish are those who only know hate!
For true love springs from God so high above
This worldly plane; Love's soft touch hunger sates.
A burning hunger caused by sadness or
A spreading sickness, a disease inside.
Love's cool touch, never being felt before,
A blossoming flower thou cannot hide.
But even so love, as the bright red rose
Holds thorns that cling, scrape at my heart like claws.
Yet hold! In love I can find my sweet repose,
And see through any of my true love's flaws.
All I ever hoped for, that I not miss,
Gentle whispers, my love's passionate kiss.

Do people ever begin to love,
Or is it a random chance,
Will they ever soar like a dove,
Or miss out on romance?
Do human beings ever care,
Or do we just get by?
But when we want to tarry there
We each often die.
A little bit inside of us
Falls away each time
We have betrayal of our trust
Just when the bells start to chime.
So listen carefully reader please
To my desperate request.
If you truly love them,
Stick with them, forget the rest.

These chains that bind me
Pull me down,
Make me drown.
Seein' thru new eyes again,
It's still new
It's not true.
Nothing is the same,
But it's the age-old game
I', totally out-done
Can't ever have my fun.
Claws shred at my heart
Rip me tender
Long and slender
My ears hear my own cries,
Soft mewling wail,
As I slowly fell.
Nothin' is the same,
But it's still an age-old game
I try to win at my own pace,
But I get left in last place
My blood runs slowly out
Beautiful red and alive,
It drips to the tile floor,
Soft whispering drops
The flow never stops
Nothing is the same
But it's still this age-old game\
I'm 3rd Will and alone
No one to hear me groan
No one to care about me,
No where to go, no one to see.
I wrote this on a night that I was abandoned by all close to me, and tried to slit my wrists. As you can tell, I did not succeed.

Marred Mask
Paint up your face, Pretty Girl,
YOU are the center of the world,
You will is law, whim is rule,
Wake Up! You act like a fool!
Open the eyes of truth,
See the reality,
Get up, just start to move,
Be in this reality!
Dressed up but Naked,
What did you think they'd see???
Not all guys are Gentlemen,
And few are anything like me.
You claim you love; cry to me,
Do you want to feel better, Rose?
Change this path you long ago chose.
Now the mascara runs
Down an ice-pale cheek
Cigarette shaking, deal done,
A blue-white flowing creek.
Your tears flow, marr the mask,
You don't want it, you don't ask,
I simply sit, Hold you close,
I pray that you didn't overdose,
You won't realize what you mean to me,
I cannot ever let you see
The pain I hide away keeps you safe
And now only I ache,
You know not that when you slept,
I beside you bitter tears wept.

Drop the razor in the sink
White porcelain stained ruddy pink
I'll stay even if you don't want me to,
Because I still care about you.
No good, No good for me,
But still you just won't see
I care too much, I hurt for you,
The pain you self-inflict, the drugs you do,
It only rends my heart to shreds.
I'm afraid you want to be dead
Live! Live! Live! Live!
You have so much love to give!
And Receive if only you knew
How much I always loved You.

I agree wholeheartedly!!! This is a place for people to share their poetry; this comes from the heart, the soul, and the private minds of the writers, and they don't appreciate you sitting there and bashing it even if they DID ask for an opinion. Saying I didn't really like it is good enough; you don't need to go into excruciating detail.

thank you both. LOL yeah, there are some very ..... bescheissen people on the KMC lines. I hope they can Grow Up and Get A Life instead of demeaning others to feel like they mean something to this world.
Coldfire, I am glad you see poetry that way. It is nice when folks realize what this stuff is; Not just random ramblings that rhyme, but heart and soul laid bare to the world. This is Yours, mine, all of our dreams and as a great poet once said: " Tread softly, for you tread upon my dreams."

My face shows no lines of age,
Save for my scars from being a page,
The cuts upon my arms have healed,
My heart is more open, new love unsealed,
These boots show wear, but still trudge on,
My sadness was here, but now it's gone.
My body itself still shows signs of youth,
Only my eyes could tell you the truth.
Those damning orbs bare clear my soul,
One look inside, you shall see my whole,
Pierced deep by their cobalt stare,
Would you run, or just stand there?
Can you take in all I have to feel?
Will you stay and test if I'm real?
Or instead run off just like the others?
I just want you, I don't want to be lovers.
I just want to hold you to me so tight,
I want to come home to you every night.
I want to dance only with you each day,
And only you do I want to watch sashay.
I wish for your kiss and yours alone,
I want to hear just you when I get the phone,
Just you and you alone with me.
That I believe would be

I watch as you slowly make your dance around heaven,
Laughing as you decide to sprinkle me with rain.
I lay on crisp grass in the glade by my den,
Enjoying the sunshine, easing away the pain.
Lone and always so I shall be here in the forest of dreams,
She used to come and visit me often, before,
Coming to ease my nightmares and gently quiet my screams,
But I fear I shall never see her here anymore.
The bewitching woman once came to me every night,
I could tell her all the things I saw or felt that day,
She would massage away my anger, my sadness and fright,
This Lady could turn deep Winter into late May.
A look from her eyes to mine, and I was hers,
Her lightest touch would surge through my vein,
Her breath on my skin would have me in shudders,
Her love kept me here and helped keep me sane.
Now she is gone, like the wind through this wood,
And I am here yet again by myself alone laying here,
I would not bring her back, even if I thought I could,
I just enjoy my time alone, and think of her, my dear.

Well yeah, of course I see poetry this way. I mean, when I write it, it comes from my heart and soul. It may start out as a random idea, but soon you end up wrapping yourself into it, possibly without even realizing it. In all these poems I've read you can FEEL and SEE the heart and soul of the writer, and most of the time you can also begin to see the character of the writer as well from what they've done in the poems. That's why it irks me so when people sit there and totally diss other people's poems. No, not everyone has to like them, but then all they have to say is "I don't really go for this poem," instead of stomping it into the ground, and maybe even suggest how it could be improved if the writer has asked for that.
