Padres could surprise some people. Yes they have a crappy record but they'll get Peavy for two starts which gives them two great chances at winning so they just need to win one other game to win the series.

Predictions:

Boston over Chicago
Yankees over Angels
Houston over Atlanta
Padres over St. Louis

go Padres baby! stick out tongue

No its new in Baseball. They made the rule, and didnt even tell anybody about it. When the Yankees won the second game of the series, the Red Sox didnt even know why the Yankees were celebrating. Yeah its in other sports, and it does make sense, but IMO after 162 games, if your tied, there should be a 1 game playoff. I can see the rule in Basketball, and Hockey and Football because there is less games and they have always had that rule. This rule is totally new in Baseball, and i think they should have kept the 1 game playoff rule. Well, they still have the 1 game playoff rule, but not in the Sox/Yanks situation. Which i think is stupid. I know if i were on the Red Sox i would be mad. If I were gonna play 162 games, and have the same record as the Yankees, but they are gonna give the division to the Yankees, i would be pissed. Especially since they didnt even tell anybody about the rule, and that makes it worse.

Oh well, the Red Sox are still gonna beat the Yankees ass IF the Yanks get passed the Angels.

yea i think because they are both still making the playoffs people are considering it not a huge deal. If cleveland had secured the WC and boston didnt get in even with a tie and no 1 game playoff it would be bull shit.

Yeah the only reason they did it is because they both made the playoffs anyway/ Im not that mad because I like the Red Sox chances against the W Sox more then against the Angels. And i think that the Angels have a better chance to beat the Yanks then the WSox do. But i still think they should have had a 1 game playoff. Because now if the Yanks and the RSox win, the Yankees will have homefield advantage, yet they have the same exact record. Now i think Homefield is overrated. If you are a professional team you should be able to win on the road just as much or almost as much on the road. But it still does help the home team, especially in the Yanks/Sox case.

Football is a different story though.

yea in baseball ball parks shape/size can favor a left or right handed hitter or favor a pitcher.. so home field can still matter.

That would be very true if they were going to be able to beat the White Sox and IMHO that isn't going to happen.

Ozzie has this Sox team pumped... "you can put it on the boarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd" Yes!!!!

Yeah, well i kinda assumed there wouldnt be any stupid plays. *coughGraffinocough* if it wasnt for that, the Red Sox win that game, and go home fore two the with series tied.

Anyway though, i think the Red Sox are winning the next to at home, but game 5 i dont know.

Its not.
But who else?

He had some good numbers, and while he was on steriods, he's not anymore and considering all the shit he got from people (rightfully so), and all the criticism from everybody, he had a pretty good year. People make mistakes, and he did, he was true about it (unlike some other players), and he came back with an impressive performance. Considering people thought he was going to be the worst player in the league and he's all through, thats why he got it.
And getting off steriods is an accomplishment because it just like any other drug that people take.
Whats the difference between a star who gets off herion and then still produces good to a Giambi who gets off steriods and then performs good?

the one on herion didnt try to cheat for one.. and yea it is an accomplishment to quit an addiction.. but still, i dunno i just dont like it.

I liked Brian Mcann i think is his name, hes 21 and smultz personal catcher, doesnt play many games for the braves. He grew up loving the braves has a pitcure of him and smultz when he was 7, and then he hits a 3 run homerun on clemons to help smultz win.

I thought it was Smoltz? *checks* Yep it is.

Anyway i think you talking about Brian Mcant. The one that hit the 3 run homer. I would like him, but he is on the Braves, so thats not happening.

yea mcant is the guy. I just thought it was a cool story. To have a favorite player and eventually be his catcher, and then hit a home run to give you the lead. Also I have liked the braves since i was little so I like it anytime they win.

Well, definitly. But he doesnt cheat anymore, and this season, he got by on his skill and not steriods.

Steriods only help with strength, you still have to hit the ball.

I think he deserves it. He was stupid in taking it, but he's one the only guys who publicaly announced he did steriods, got screwed over by everybody in baseball, dealth with it, then came back and had a good year. I think thats a pretty good accomplishment.
