If you mean to say that SW would win, but that there would be major carnage on both sides, then I agree. However, if you're saying that SW would win without losing a single ship, I disagree. But we're all entitled to our opinions.

Just comparing the firepower and number of ships proves that ST gets massacred.

Whoever does win, which is impossible to tell, considering bias, I think it's safe to say that Star Wars is far more interesting. Star Trek is really really good, but sometimes I just can't sit through an entire episode, unless of course it's absolutely riveting. I don't give a pair of balls about the Neutral Zone.

Star Wars doesn't do several hours of politics, except in Episode I.

Stop watching DS9 then. I too hate the political episodes, unless they involve the Ferengi because they make me laugh. Oh, and the "spiritual" episodes with the ceremonies and crap.

When I said mid-billions, I meant maybe around 10-100 billion ships, which seems to be a fairly reasonable number for the SW Universe.
I really don't want to argue how many ships ST has. But either way SW outnumbers ST, by a very large margin. Can't we all just agree that SW wins. We don't have to get into if it would be carnage on both sides. Let's just all agree that SW wins.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that.

Good. At least a few of the people here have a little something, I like to call common sense. We really don't have to analyze everything. SW wins with superior numbers. I could argue that SW has superior fire power too, but if we all agree already what would be the point?

It's quirky. I don't think anybody's gone through and speculated how many ships ST could possibly have based on the number of alien appearances and any possible description of their species regarding their ship. Hell, I don't blame them. That'd be powerful tedious. That's why I went with time travel.

Haha!! Yeah, that would be rather difficult.

Like I said before...

SW galaxy = Pretty much fully explored and over 10,000 years of history
ST galaxy = Less than 20% explored and only 300 – 400 years of history

Also, as Obiwan said, its true, from a certain point of view... you talk of power ratings but from my point of view... Apples and Oranges… Just like how the other side of the world has a different set of measurements than we do on this side of the world… I think the SW galaxy has a different set of measurements than the ST galaxy does. 1gigawatt does not equal 1 gigawatt. The SW power ratings are SOOOOO far out there that they are unfathomable… I have to believe that the measurements are not the same. I believe that they are proportional to the size of the ship… for example, ST Enterprise D = 1000 tons with power output 1000 gigawatts, SW Stardestroyer = 10,000 tons with power output 10,000 gigawatts… this is a poor example but I think it gets the general idea across. It also still supports a SW Stardestroyer being far more powerful than the ST Enterprise D but does not support the idea that a small two man ship like Slave1 has enough firepower to take out Enterprise. Now I know that all the SW people are going to throw their arms up and say “You cant just change the rules like that” but its just my opinion. Apples and Oranges.

So when I look at the VS battle that takes place I dont see ST getting owned as all the SW folks do.

Yes, due to the amount of time elapsed in the SW galaxy vs the ST galaxy I do admit they have more ships and would probably win... but I dont see the battle going down that way.

I dont think that Akabar and Picard would just start blindly firing at eachother... Alliances would be formed... Now that would make an interesting story...

Do you have to say "apples and oranges", and "I am more of a fan of SW, than I am of ST, I am just defending them because they're the underdog", in every post? It get's rather annoying. I have read every page of this debate, and in most you are saying those lines. Like somebody elsee said, the only one comparing apples and oranges here is you. But anyways, ST would get pwned. We have superior tech, superior firepower, superior numbers, and superior Super Weapons.

I think this is partly what killed the series for me. For one thing, the Ferengi went from being badass (Like their first appearance) to little jokes with no stops in between. Klingons only fought with knives all of a sudden, and the Cardassians were straddling the fence so much they were starting to split in two.

And don't get me started on the spiritual crap.

Ooohh yeah, the Ferengi were kind of like pirates originally weren't they? All that was overridden with the creepy ear fetishes and Wallace Shawn.

Actually I like Star Trek more sometimes BECAUSE it has more of an in-depth plot and storyline. Star Trek isn't meant to be all war- its more of a story that fits into a realistic future plot (most of it) so custums and things are sometimes important. Now that I think about it though, Star Trek has time travel which might throw the odds a ways in their direction. There is also a Star Trek equivalent of the Death Star and some species use better methods of travel other than lightspeed...

I keep saying it cause no one is listening... but I will stop and I will stop with this....

Thats your opinion, and thats my opinion. I think my opinion makes more sense and can be supported better so I hold to my arguments.

WTF does pwned mean...??? you dont have superior tech, your superior firepower is proportional to your larger ships, yeah you got more numbers... who cares, and the only super weapon that cant be matched by something in ST is the Star Forge...

So we all have our own opinions... thats nice...

Human Smoke from the KMC messageboard isn't canon in ST continuity.
