Additionally, a recent poll in April says that 52% of Canadians wish to be allowed to purchase private healthcare while continuin the free healthcare for the poor. That sounds an AWFUL LOT like American healthcare lol... If their healthcare was so great why would they feel the need to pay for more?

And in the United States you don't have to wait! Even if you are on free government healthcare, you don't have to wait! And yes, some peole very close to me are on government healthcare so I'd know.
Funny how someone can pay $12 for something and get ridiculed about it...meaning they can't complain about not having $150/month for insurance. Jack ass....

What places are you talking about? Maybe they do it differently in Califorinia but where I am from they don't have special centers for government care.
lazer, you seem to have all the right answers for everything. im not saying Canadas health care is the greates in the world because there are some flaws in it. You have to accept that americas health system is not as good as Canadas, you have to be rich in order to not wait in line or have hook ups in a clinic

tlbauerle did you mean you get paid through social services, like welfare or something, or do you actually work for social services? And if so do you refer to government run social services like where they have social workers and whatnot or something private?

and .... "There are long lines all over the place....it takes forever to get doctors appointments...so don't give me that crap."
Of course it you have to wait to get a doctors appointment, and wait at the office when you get there. My point is that in Canada when it is determined you need treatment for something you have to wait months or longer.

And I know some pretty poor folks, they don't have trouble getting into any clinics.
And we don't have to wait in line. The doctor says be there at 4 o'clock. You show up at 3:45 and end up waiting until 4, 4:15 at the latest. It's hardly standing in a line all day long it's an appointment just like anything else.
I have a social sciences degree....and am trying to find a job with an intervention agency, CPS, etc...starting pay with a Bachelor's degree is between $15k and $25k....now that is a bunch of crap.
Government or private doesn't matter....to work in a highly intense situation with suicidal teens...they pay you $10/hr....that's about average. Crap.
