Argh Persuation....argh can't do it....
----------------------------------------------------------
First Minister, I know the Venerable Miran does't thinik it would help, but would you do us, as the represantatives of the Republic, grant the wish to communicate with the Sanctuary?
"If this is about the predicted casualties, General... I am sorry your Artillery train could not be here on time, but..."
"I am aware that that is unfortunate. But even if the guns were here, I would not attack the Sanctuary at this point."
Miran raises his eyebrows.
"Um, General..." says Skorzeny. "May I enquire why?"
"Because the Jedi do not wish it."
"The Jedi are irrelevant!" says Miran.
"The Jedi have been sen as representatives of the Republic and I refuse to see them as irrelevant. If anything, they make ME irrelevant."
"They have come against our wishes to take part in negotiations that are already finished! Whereas I asked you here personally to take care of this problem, which you agreed to do. That is a mark of honour!"
"Everything appropriate fulfills my agreement there. I was not told that the Republic wanted to negotiate. If you find me at fault, I can of course leave."
"This is insanity! You are endangering our safety. Negotiations are of no further value."
"Then they can find that out for themselves!" snaps Kuylen, with a sudden burst of authority. "This is MY army. What happens here is my responsibility. I refuse to start a war whilst Republican appointed negotiators from the Jedi Order itself are on this planet and oppose said action!"
"They are NOT welcome here."
"Then complain to the Senate." He turns to you guys. "Roan Trilanger. As a loyal servant of the Republic, I place myself and my army at your disposal, to aid you in the current situation."
"This is a mistake, Anaz. We shall all regret this."
"Well," says Anaz. "I am sorry. I guess we cannot all have your perfect mind, Miran."

OK, Now were getting somewhere....
I dunno if its exactly where we wanna go as we just pissed off the ruling council but still....
"I thank you for your (uhh would Respect be the right word or would it be more like judgment?), Kuylen."
ok I would first like to make a SF roll on Antanon and stuff about that.
Secondly it was mentioned that Kuylen was the old guys apprentice or that they had some dealings before... Could someone with Empathy check that out please?
"That's not my responsibility," says Anaz. "Now, if you will excsuse me, the non-arrival of my artillery train bears further investigation; I must meet with my logistical officers."
"Umm," says Skorzeny, "if there is to be this delay, I guess there is no harm in trying to set up new negotiations..."
"They will go no better than before," says Miran.
"Well, probably not, but it can't actually make it worse, can it?"
"Oh," says Miran, "I am sure the Jedi will amaze us all by achieving such impossibilites. I shall be in my room."

I recommend, now that the immediate situation has become passive- i.e. you can stop reacting now, events proceed in your hands- that you make a big list of EVERYTHING you don't understand- every single little detail might be important- and then work on how to find that out.

OK the "Big List"
these are in no paticular order...
1) Anaz Kuylen's lack of knowlege about his cousin.
2) ANYTHING about the rebels except the basics, they took over the sanctuary and want the dissolvation ofthe Z'har
3) Why the old man refered to himself as Anaz's "Mentor"
4) Why the army was called in before ANY other action, It probably took them longer, and they would have had alot of time to set this up, the army was definity there before we were breifed. Why?
5) A complete and accurate Chain of Command. For the Z'har and everyone, We know Kuylen is more powerful than Miran. But where does everyone else fit?
6) What exactly the rebels want, they never really told us their demands, simply that they included dissolving the Z'har and that they were unreasonable.
7) Why the Z'har hates the Jedi so damn much!
Thats all I got so far, any more unanswered questions??

Oh that was just general I would like to know how it came aboot, how they planed it, how they did it, and why it worked out, and of course why the army was there so fast
Anaz has a lot of respect for Miran. Miran did in fact call Anaz his 'pupil'.
Ok, SF roll and what of those questions I can answer immediately...
Roan- the Boyar Aristocracy are truly ancient. In keeping with the theme of this story, they were there at the form of the first Republic, and existed before all the way back into primitive Charnellian pre-history. The reason they don't rank as a Republican organisation as old as the Jedi and Z'Har is simply that Charnel was not always part of the Republic. Tasker's Crown was conquered by Charnel twenty thousand years ago and is now culturally one large homogonous area.
(for those who have not been in contact with the Kuylen plot before, Tasker's Crown is a Constellation)
The important thing about the Boyar is that whilst most of the aristocratic worlds now have elected Governments with royal titles, Charnel- like Seronno- has never changed. The only elected representative from Charnel is its Senator. The Boyar Aristocracy that rules the world- and the whole of Tasker's Crown- is based purely upon birth, a line that stretches back... forever.
Antanon is a royal province of Charnel, and when 'subject worlds' were mentioned, it was meant literally. Voivode is a title, like Baron or Count. Anaz Kuylen here is not just a general- he is a nobleman. He owns those worlds.
Skorseny rules this planet, though Cassilis is a highly democratic planet and hence he rules through differing houses of executive power, there is a seperate legislature and judiciary... in short, his power is not absolute. Miran has no official power at all, but as head of the Z'Har he clearly has enormous influence.
Anaz is under no-one's obligation but his own. He seems to have come simply because he was asked, and has made it clear he will happily leave if unwelcome.
