Quincy Leader killed some Soul Reapers and got to the Soul King, killing him, which will collapse Soul Society, which will collapse the realms connected (so he can become the new Soul King and reform things).
Quincy Leader talks about how he controls Ichigo (it was actually Ichigo's hand that cut the Soul King), and then Ishida shows up apparently on the Quincy side.
Captain Tuberculosis turns out to have the Hand of the King, so temporarily supports Soul Society. The other captains try and figure out how to get to the Soul King's palace against obstacles that are in their way.
Quincy Leader releases a ton of eyeball monsters.
Captain strawhat guy decides to unleash Aizen to save things. Aizen, who is tied to a chair and can only use, like, one eye, his mouth, etc., crushes the eyeball monsters with his spirit pressure, and figurative handwaves away all the obstacles in the way of the Soul King's Palace. Figuratively because he is still tied to a chair.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
But in spite of all of that we've still yet to see Yuzu & Karin come down to save the day as Quincy/Shinigami/Fullbrings Sentai Rangers. I'm kind of disappointed.
I also liked the part where the shinigami appear more concerned about their pride instead of Aizen's motives when he saves them.
If you haven't picked up that the shinigami are 'honor about reason' types by now...
I mean, they are all really, really old, with only a few exceptions, so when they 'died' it probably made more sense, but there hasn't been a conflict so far where their honor hasn't hampered them in a major way.
So it looks like FGT Ichigo's still the biggest player on the board, seeing how strong Aizen still holds up. Surprising, really, and it honestly makes no sense whatsoever; I'd expect that Ichigo would grow stronger rather than weaker with recent events...
Ichigo's power has fluctuated before. Remember when the captains showed up in Hueco and they said he wasn't on their level any more, despite gaining vizored powers?
The FGT was a final one-shot ultimate thing, so it's not surprising to me that he hasn't re-attained that level, it's more sense than his prior fluctuations.
They said that? When, because that doesn't seem to make any sense. I always assumed that was just inconsistency mixed with the fact that the Captains improved.
Also, I'm not talking about FGT exclusively, his entire performance in the fight.
Gender: Male Location: home, playing Guilty Gear Xrd.
It was Ulquiorra, I think, that first brought it up back in vol. 22. He said that Ichigo's power was fluctuating wildly, being very low at is lowest, and much higher than his own power when Ichigo was keeping on top of his game.
At the end of the Hueco Mundo arc, iirc Byakuya said it when arriving as reinforcements, that none of the captains would need help from him in his current state.
And note how the captains proceeded to beat foes in the same league as the ones he needed the mask to face.
Basically Bleach power levels yo-yo, sometimes without giving reason til much later, so who can tell how strong people are?
I still have no clue exactly how strong Ichigo is supposed to be right now even though its implied his power level has finally calmed down after getting his new Zanpakuto.
Also would an unsealed Aizen be stronger than the Zero Division peps?
