And the end of the lesson, you parted ways. Hannah and Mutia had Charms whilst you and Elisa had Transfiguration.
You walked along, with you trying to make small talk, and Elisa making it even smaller.
"So, um, what lessons do you like?" you asked, uncomfortably.
"Transfiguration. I'd love to be an animagus."
"Yeah, me too..."
Silence.
"Look, I know -" you turned to look at her, a little suprised that it was her that had made conversation this time. "- never mind. I just...I don't really...I don't feel like..."
What in the name of God was she talking about?
"I just prefer to be...you know, quiet. It's easier."
You looked at her intently. There was something in her eyes...something that suggested she was hiding something.
"Right..." you whispered.
She smiled at you.
"Come on."
You linked your arm through the crook of her elbow, like it was the most natural thing in the world. Elisa's smile broadened.
The two of you walked along in companiable silence.
Behind the corner for the Transfiguration classroom, everyone was being a lot noiser than you and Elisa.
McGonagal came out of her classroom, looking a lot thinner. You hadn't really seen her properly at dinner, but close up she was definately bonier.
"SILENCE!!!"
Thinner, but no less bossy, it seemed.
Everyone did as she said, and filed into class.
"This year, we are doing more advanced Transfiguration; large, rare animals, and hopefully, by the end of the year, humans."
This sent a murmer of excitment around the room.
"So let us not delay from starting. Miss Johnston, could you please hand out this assortment of magical creatures. When you recieve them I would like you to enlarge them - Miss Johnston, do not look at the creatures like that. They are not that bad."
Faith Johnston, a superficial bimbo from Slythering, was eyeing the assortment of magical creatures like they were something horrible on her shoe. She gingerly threw them onto people's desks, probably terrifying the life out of most of them. It was no suprise that one of them tried to bite her. Really, who needs it? She did not have to scream and throw the box into the air. Thank God she was at the back of the class with only a few animals left, so the floor was not coated in magical animals.
