Gays are more common than lesbians and are, as a whole, more vocal. More health issues arise from male homosexuality as well and this contributes to the lopsided spotlight. Lesbians are sometimes grouped with the feminists and thereby limited to that context a lot of the time. Also, straight men generally find it more offensive to imagine committing homosexual acts than women do. Also, many straight men have an sexual attraction to lesbians leading to them not addressing the issue.

"Gays" are more common than lesbians because lesbians are "gays". There is no statistical evidence to suggest that homosexuality in males is more common than in females. Or that they're more vocal with it for that matter. The health issues does not effect the majority's of peoples views and it's certainly what is not in the spotlight when it comes to homosexuality. I'm not sure where this "Straight men generally find it more offensive" business from. How do you measure offence? And surely one can only have a biased view, as a single person can never really be both male and female.
Fair enough, I will freely admit that these assumptions come mostly from my own observations and from a Canadian perspective, where gay marriage is legal in all provinces (expect Alberta right now).
However, I know that most straight guys I know find it a little bit disgusting to think about gay sex and have no problems with lesbians. I also know that when I was in high school I saw straight women making out and more at parties all the time. I also know that straight women 'cuddle' with each other and are generally comfortable holding hands. However, these behaviors are just not common between straight men.

Men are often less accepting people. More women vote against gay marriage bans than men. Women are ahead of men on most social issues.
That's alright, I didn't take it as one. It is as the others said - I didn't mean you or other mods reported it, just that one of you would likely have seen it (since you all visit the forum.)
Is "gay sex" so profoundly different to hetersexual sex carried out by heterosexual couples? Not really, since the sexual acts themselves (oral or anal sex) are both extremely common in heterosexual relationships.

No, I'm agreeing with Samura. Many straight men find it disgusting to think about the acts involved in gay sex even though they do many of the exact same things generally associated with gay sex. This does not seem logical, but it still occurs. The human mind can be funny sometimes.
My apologies, I thought you referenced "truth" as gay sex and homosexual sex are different.
The logic of this dilemma comes from the fact that then men aren't revolted by the sex act, but merely find two guys in bed to be unacceptable. They will then use any means they can to attempt to justify thier position.
