There is a difference between making a game for system and porting a game over to a system. Wow would have to be remade on the system so it wouldn't be a port, if they tried to port the game it wouldn’t work.
When you port a game from one console to another they covert the code into a suitable form by using an automated code converter which can’t result in better quality, kinda like burning a dvd to HDdvd the quality will not be better than dvd even though its on HD-DVD.
VF5 will look the close to same on PS3 as it will on Xbox360 because it's not a port it will be created for the Xbox and for the PS3. A port would be if they created the game for PS3 and converted it to run on xbox, if they did that the Xbox360 version would look worse than the ps3 version.
I thought this was common knowledge and I was wrong.
No, that's not entirely true. A ported platform can look better if the target is able to do things that the original couldn't- an example there might be anti-aliasing.

Ouch. If it's under warranty you can send it in for a fix/new one for free. If not, you gotta pay $150 to send it in for a fix/new one

But that would require you to alter the orginal code with algorithms or Filters which in turn would turn the game into a remake not a port becuase you would be remaking or revamping the graphics. Like they did with GTA from PS2 to Xbox. Unless they have found a way to use an anti-aliasing filter without code modification.

Would the lights still turn on via powerblock if it's burnt out?

Yeah you've had it too long for lemon law. Well look on the bright side at least you didn't pay 600 bucks for the console.

Thats crazy, and kinda funny considering people are paying double online, when they can go to the store and actually buy one for normal price. Just out of curiousity, where do you work?
I work at an EB Games.
And if you take a look on ebay, PS3 auctions are only going for a couple hundred dollars over retail price right now. Hell, that's been the case since about three days after launch.

If it's still the same game, it's a port. Some reprogramming will be absolutely required to make a game work on a system different than the one it was originally made to be played on. That's just common sense.

So your saying that resident evil for Gamecube is just a port for the PS1, and final fantasy 3 for the DS is just a port from the NES if so then we have completely different definitions of what a port is.

Err, no, that's not true... you don't need to change a darn thing. Anti-aliasing of 3d models can be done entirely by hardware regardless of whether software was written to do it at all. Easy way to tell- emulators anti-alias Playstation stuff that was never designed with such stuff in mind. In fact, you can anti-alias 3d models created before anti-aliasing existed, without altering the original code at all.
For someone who cries a lot about the ignorance of others, you are rather short on facts yourself.

Conclusion: Ports are crappy, look at GTA, all the ports of it have been rubbishy :P
Ports from PS2 to PSP do my head in, and then those same exclusive titles for the PSP end up on PS3, hello! That demeans the purpose of exclusivity!
