I'm from the US and I have to say that I'm leaning towards Japanese developers (only because of Sonic). But America can develop some awesome games too. It just seems that each side focuses more or less on different aspects to a video game. American made games seem to focus a lot more on killing aliens/people where as Japanese made games seem to have more based on story.
No, the most important element to a video game is just gameplay. What makes most games suck is the fact they focus to heavily on a story and not on gameplay. Story/plot can be taken out of a game all together and the game will still be awesome. Have a great story/plot but horrible gameplay you have a bad game.

Personally, if I'm not interested in the plot of a game, or if it HAS no real plot, then I can't like it. Hence why I've never been a fan of Halo, or Castlevania, or Devil May Cry, and also why I've always liked Final Fantasy and Zelda. More often, poor/non-existant plot will kill a game for me than the gameplay. It makes it far harder for me to get into and have fun with; I think only once crap gameplay has made me quit a game. It's happened many more times because of crap plot.
I would say that most FPS's nowadays have plots, and usually the more substantial ones too.
I never play Zelda games for the plot. What's the point, its the same thing over and over again. You play as Link, the bad guy somehow ends up to be Ganondorf, or Ganon, and saving Zelda usually comes up. The dugeons are roughly the same...ie Water Temple, Fire Temple, and the end bosses usually end up being the same before in other games. I personally dont care about plot in Zelda games.

Dont get me wrong, I still love the Zelda franchise and dying to play Twilight Princess, but dont have the Wii, but I have the game already. I just dont pay attention to the plot of the game.
i bought an "intercooler" for it the other day but i havent opened it yet because im not sure it actually does anything. it doesnt say anything about prolonging your 360s life or even helping the machine at all. im a little worried about it ****ing it up so i was wondering if anybody here knew anything about it or could direct me to a site that had some information. there isnt anything on any official xbox sites about it either so thats turning me off it as well.

I forgot all about the Nintendo Wii Component Cables.
I was in Wal-Mart just a while ago and I just happen to see them and a light went off in my brain. I had forgot about the drout of Nintendo Wii Component Cables and how everybody including me wanted them.
I was scared I might be done with Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess by the time they were readily available but I've only completed the third Dungeon/Temple....so yeah.....Although I didn't get them today, I'll be sure to get them next weekend and finally get to see the big whoop and Legend of Zelda in all its glory.
I'm still figuring out what the hell to do with my TV when I get an Wii. Only two components hookups and both are taken up with HD devices and I need to play the Wii with component.
I know I could get a splitter, but I couldnt find any component ones just HDMI ones but those are massivily expansive.
Hopefully, 360 starts to get HDMI cables...but then, I already paid alot of the cables I have now...

So does all tvs not have component connections.
I've been wondering this.
My tv is positioned in a way where I'm not able to see and get all the way around the back of it. So I've been using these 3 colored holes in the front.
So would those be okay to put the component cables in or must every single one of the cables have a hole to stick in and be a specific color?
Yeah, I assume each different type of cable has to go into thier individual jacks. If I'm wrong somebody correct me, but I would think it would matter if I put in components into composite because it would be pointless because I wont get HD.
I have an Toshiba DLP TV. I orginally got an plasma but I hated it, the colours were crap, burn in and alot of graphical glitches (little red dots places) but the colour was absolute shit. Watch Chronicles of Narnia and all the black levels were an dark purple and the difference between shades was crap too. I could literally see the outlines of colour in peoples faces without any blending going on. It was soo bad, my girlfriend saw it (who turns her head whenver I talk about differences between videocards) and her friends, who doesnt know anything saw it too. It was really crap.
Went back and picked up an HD DLP TV for $300 bucks less. The clarity and especially colour are amazing. The black levels are the best I ever seen and now when I watch a movie its awesome. Long story short, this TV aint the greatest for games because it has slight delay which was slightly fixed by the 360 (my GC was almost unplayable) and I got wicked Monster Cables to fix the problem. But now, I only get 2 component hookups and one HDMI (plus countless S-Video, and composite. So I dont know what to do.
same with me...we bought on high def television its in the living room also...but since the u.s. launch i've been through 2 diffrent wii's and about 3 sensor bars...so now i must stick with basic level graphics until i can afford my own hd tv ....
on another note...those orange circles blinked on my 360 again...and i'm getting worried because i dont know what it means...
my friend keeps calling it "the ring of death" which doesnt seem so promising...

No, no, no. With component cables, you do get an huge boost in quality of the picture. I also think its the only way of doing 16:9 widescreen, and 480p, but I'm not too sure about that.
If you have the money, component cables are the way to go but if your TV doesnt support it then dont bother. You might want to check out the back of the TV.
sonic is about the worst game you can ever play. those jap games are insane. Have you even seen some of their stupid games that dont make it over here. Some games are just a story where you press one button and get to wach the screen flash with images.
what is that?
american developers come from the mentality of the western civilization. from the ancient greeks, and romans, we need something to conquer. sometimes japs spend to much ime focusing on story and forget about the actual gameplay
