*feels alone*

hello
*echos*
hello!?

Ummmm.... *twittles thumbs*so yeah, i found this cool scripture the other day, here it is:

Abraham 1:2
And, finding there was a greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same haveing been myself a follower of righteiousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower fo righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge and to be a father of may nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions and to keep the commandments of God, I becme a rightfull heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers.

This was Abraham talking. Now, this scripture is in the pearl of great price, a document also translated by the prophet joseph smith, it was from papyrus that a convert had found with a mummy (he was some kind of egyptoligist) or something like that.

When it was translated they found out that it was original text taken from abraham and moses.

anywho, i think it's a great insight into who he was, and a good example becuase of his rightious desires to gain and share what gave him peace.

Sorry hunny...

I'm here!

I actually hung out with my best friend last night and I had forgotten how much fun we had together. She's LDS too...she's the convert I was telling you about before. We listened to my EFY CD's and her Cd called Primary Colors...or something like that. We talked about her missionary that's serving in Argentina. We talked about the progress of the church here in New Orleans. and I realized how little I've been doing as far as church. I really want to go Sunday. I haven't been in a few months. Mostly because my Kennel job never gave me a day off...but also because I'm still miffed that there isn't a Singles Ward right now.

I dunno. I think I'm going to read my scriptures before I go to bed. I've been so lazy lately. *facepalm*

Your friend goes someplace, learns the local language (like if he goes to Spain he learns spanish of course), and then he spreads the gospel.
This goes on for two years btw smile

Your here!! eek!
That sounds like it was fun kella! thats cool. I lurve my bro's EFY cd's. Thats fun that she has a missionary. hope you can get a day off from your job, that would be hard. nice to hear from you.

nice to meet you wolflet. you lds?

a1sauce, tell me where your friend goes when you find out! thats exciting. A lot of young men look forward to missions and later consider them the best times of their lives. They get to serve thier god for two years, find a deep meaning of service, and if they are forign (and i suppose if they are not too) they find a place in ther hearts for an entirely new people. Tell your friend good luck! eek!

Mormon is just a nickname, the real title is
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

We are Christians.

We are not poligamists (in fact if you practice poligamy you are discomunicated (blocked off the church records))

I'd like to know why you mormons can't leave me alone on the subway or someshit. You're friggin worse than Jehova's Witnesses. At least they go away when you freak them out with something Satanic. Mormons on the other hand "well that's fascinating. we'd love to see you at our meeting next week at blah blah church on blah street. are you sure you wouldnt like to know more?" ARG

nice to meet ya though! I'm glad for your help.

as to Arachnoidfreak, and son_of_man, I'm glad to know our church is doing their job, getting the word out. stick out tongue too bad for you if you can't let people share what they love.

Son_of_man, we've already been over the question of us being a cult, any religion could be by definition. We're like any other church in the sense of membership, we just live a little more closly to what we believe than most christians. there are no hostages, or closed comunities in our church as you try to suggest by calling us a cult. your so ignorantly and hatefull laughing

I already told you, don't be hatin'

No...ignorant and hateful people in public schools and online teach us those things. We do still live in the world you know.
stick out tongue

And that's just fine if you post something against our church and put that you don't mean to offend.

Are mormons occult?

I have heard that they pray to the dead spirits like that of Joseph Smith and not God, or in the name of Jesus Christ.

It sounds like an invitation to demon possession.

What?

We pray to God...in the name of Jesus Christ, His son. We do not pray to Joseph Smith...or to any spirits. I must admit...that's a first.

There is no demonic possession happening at my ward...I'm not sure about other Wards, but demonic possession is usually frowned upon by my church...yeah. Kinda like showing up drunk to a youth activity...or any activity or meeting for that matter. Not really something we accept.

So no...LDS are not part of the occult. blink

Kella, I rather be a "butt-head" (Mormons seem to talk like sinners) than belive in false doctrines. (as do you)

svnthdysthsbbth, yes they are an occult. svnthdysthsbbth, heres why.

Mormon Doctrines
There are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163); There is a mother goddess, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443); God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321); After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 345-347, 354); God resides near a star called Kolob, Pearl of Great Price, pages 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428.)
The Bible says there is only one God (Is. 43:10; 44:6,8; 45:5). God is a trinity of persons, not three gods. God is eternally God (Psalm 90:2), therefore, He was never a man. God knows of no other gods (Is. 44:8). You cannot become a god (Is. 43:10). Mormonism is wrong.

Mormonism
New Age Movement
Oneness Pentecostal
Open Theism
Seventh Day Adventism
Shepherd's Chapel
Jehovah's Witnesses

Are all cults.Later.

smile smile smile

Don't be a hipocrite and act like your perfect, no one is, neither are we.

svnthdysthsbbth, yes they are an occult. svnthdysthsbbth, heres why.

Mormon Doctrines
There are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163);

We think so, but we only worship God

There is a mother goddess, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443);

Yes, the mother of our spirits, whom god loves, we have partners, why shouldn't God.

God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321);

The point is, he became God

After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 345-347, 354);

It is our devine goal, and Gods purpose to make us happy, and hlep us become like him. Doesn't soudn wierd to me that the father who loves us wants us to have wht he does.

God resides near a star called Kolob, Pearl of Great Price, pages 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428.)

Prove that he does not, the universe in infanite, and I dont' think any of us really know for a fact where he is.

The Bible says there is only one God (Is. 43:10; 44:6,8; 45:5).

yet still mentions the trinity

God is a trinity of persons, not three gods.

Mattew 3: 16-17

talks of three different beings, I take that literally, you might not, every person is free to do either

God is eternally God (Psalm 90:2),

We are all eternal. What we are has allways been. God has allways been who he is also. I don't claim to know all of the exact details of the eternities, or God's existance, God doesn't reveal all, he can't.

therefore, He was never a man.

thats how you see it.

God knows of no other gods (Is. 44:8).

I believe that to mean by way of worship, we worship no God but him, He is our God, our only God.

You cannot become a god (Is. 43:10:
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

I belive that is saying to me, that I will never have another God, or father besides him, and that I had no father before him.

Mormonism is wrong.

In your eyes.

(i don't get how that fact that you think it is "wrong" or any of these doctrines proves my church is a cult.... lol, i'm seeing a bit of a gap in that logic.....)

Mormonism
New Age Movement
Oneness Pentecostal
Open Theism
Seventh Day Adventism
Shepherd's Chapel
Jehovah's Witnesses

Are all cults.Later.

ANY religion is a cult in that there are members with same beliefs that froup together. You just want people to think we are all kool-aid doped captives by calling us that. THAT is hatefull.

And I was not calling you ignorant, I was calling the hate you have ignorant. You hate something you've never really been a part of, or truely seen. Go to a meeting then tell me we're devils. IN fact why don't you tell the milions of people our church has saved through humanitarian services we're evil.

smile smile smile

Later yourself big grin

I don't like the way religion has turned out like in America with all those cults and filtering out information.
As a christian myself, I have noticed how most of you are extremists and still stuck in the past with christianity.

My question: Is this also the case with mormons?

Heck yeah I'm a sinner...so are you butt head. Show me one person in this world today who isn't a sinner...and I'll show you a liar...wait..that's a sin...so he'd be a sinner.

You are so unbelievably dim witted...do you know that? You so childishly assume that because I am a Mormon...that I am some kind of sheltered and timid bubble person. No hunny...I could scare you with my life story. Bad stuff happens to Mormons. We live in the world. Just like you...and every Christian, Satanist, Muslim, Buddist, whatever...we live on planet Earth too. Are you getting this?

Is this idea that we are human forming in your tiny little head?

I'm so sick of people who don't listen to what we say. WE ARE NOT EVIL!

Seriously...being LDS is the only...ONLY good thing that has ever happened to me in my life. Most of the people I know in the church are some of the kindest people I have ever met on this Earth. Everyone that is true to our church is striving to become something better than this present life allows us to be. Yes, I would like to spend my life believing that with faith and hard work I could someday become a Goddess (does NOT mean my God would not be my Heavenly Father). What the heck is wrong with believing that? It makes me make good choices rather than dumb ones.

Everyone is so stuck in this world and it breaks my heart to think that so many people have so little hope. I don't care what you think of the LDS church...I know it's a true church of God. I believe everything I have ever been taught by it. I believe the Book of Mormon is true. Nothing you say can sway my heart or my mind. I know...KNOW...what I believe is true.

You would be amazed by the things I've experienced in my life. You would be amazed by the truth. You would be amazed, but you would never open your small mind to listen to it...or to try to understand any of it.

I admire your fixed mind and determined resolution (somebody give me the verse where it says that line...I know somebody knows it...lol), but I too have a fixed mind and determined resolution.

So..... stick out tongue

Cuz I have to go back to work now...lunch break is over. But...yeah!
