Can't really deny that they are. Although FIFA has made a massive change from the years before this time. I guess that if you like the sport you'll probably buy a game every once in a while. The last PES game I had was PES 6. After a while the old graphics get annoying and the team jerseys and players aren't correct anymore so I buy a new installment, once in every 3 or 4 years.

About bland I mean. To unnecessary I say no.

Ahh true that, i guess there ok if you really enjoy a sport and if you get the odd one every so often, i myself just fail to see the point in them really, but each to his own.

I used to be a hardcore PES player. I decided to change to FIFA this year because everybody said it's now the faster game, which PES always used to be. The only reason I played PES was because it was fast paced. So if I can play a game which is as fast as, and has much better graphics, 25 original licensed competitions and a supercool Be A Pro-mode, instead of PES, I say ''Why not?''.

Although, I haven't played a regular game of FIFA 09 or PES 2009 yet, so I can't actually compare for myself. But I have to say, as a former PES-player and FIFA-hater, FIFA 09 has pleasantly surprised me.
