Hometown
Originally Newcastle upon Tyne, England - in 1995 moved a few miles north to Glanton (near Alnwick)
Current living arrangement
18th Century former public house in Glanton in north Northumberland. In a very happy relationship with the prettiest photographer in the world.
Zodiac sign
Leo
Favorite word
Not sure if I've got one
Favourite colour
Not sure if I really have one. Probably a strong colour like bright red or bright blue
Favourite number
13
Favourite board game
Haven't really got one - maybe Monopoly at a push
Favourite magazines
"Guitarist", "Wired"
What's on your mouse mat?
err...my mouse
Croutons or bacon bits
Croutons
Favorite salad dressing
I'm not a girl and I'm not a quadroped, so I don't eat foliage or anything that looks remotely like it
Shampoo or conditioner
Never use either - they rob the hair of its natural shine
Have you ever gone skinny dipping?
Nope - never actually got around to learning to swim, so I'd probably kill myself if I tried
Do you make fun of people?
All the time - but never more than I could take in return
Have you ever been convicted of a crime?
No. And I can recommend a good solicitor if you ever need one...
Favourite smells
Coffee, sawn timber, frying bacon, roast dinner (although not necessarily at the same time)
Least favourite smells
Rotten eggs, stale beer, my kitchen after the, ahem, "toast incident"
One pillow or two, cotton or feather?
Two cotton ones
What is the first thing you think of when you wake up?
The blues riff that goes "der-de-de-der-der".
What's under your bed?
About as much dust as it's humanly possible to accumulate.
Pets
None. I'd like a couple of cats but there's no way I'm never at home enough to be able to look after them properly.
Favourite movie
It's a close-run thing between "Fandango" and "The Italian Job" (the real one with Michael Caine in it, not that dreadful remake).
Favorite music/songs
Musical taste so wide and varied that some people find it frightening. Pretty much anything and everything from heavy metal through to classical, via blues, rock, pop, jazz, country, even the odd bit of dance music. So long as it's not hardcore gangsta rap, or hay-nonny-no folk music, then I probably listen to it.
Hobbies
Guitar playing, guitar/music tuition, hiking/hillwalking, geocaching, photography, IT, cookery, social inebriation, reading. It's a pretty full life
Worst feeling in the world
The agony of not knowing what might have been. Having had the opportunity to take the path less travelled, but eschewing it, and then living for the rest of a lifetime wondering if it was right, suffering agonies and sleepless nights wracked with worry that you made the wrong choice. Either that, or hemorrhoids.
What book are you reading now
At the time of writing this, "Something Rotten" by Jasper Fforde.
Toothpaste
Colgate Total (the brushing that works between brushings)
Favorite foods
Italian or Indian. Or a good old full-works, English fry-up
Favorite town to chill in
Probably Edinburgh. Good nightlife if you want that, or there are some great places to go and just unwind
Favorite ice cream flavour
Vanilla. Brilliant, simple, classic - the unsung hero of the frozen dairy-goods world
Favorite drink (non-alcoholic)
A good mug of steaming hot, freshly brewed coffee. Although on a hot summer's day, I quite like that poncey, overpriced peach-flavoured mineral water
Favorite alcoholic drink
Whisky (Cragganmore single malt, if you're offering)
Adidas, Nike or Reebok?
No real preference - I'm not that much of a fashion victim
Favorite subject in school
Computer Science (no suprise there) or Chemistry (making things go bang)
Least favorite subject in school
French or German - never really liked either the subjects or the teachers
Favorite sport to watch
Horseracing if you're actually there. Or motor racing on TV
Do you like to drive fast
ish...
Humiliating moment
So many to choose from, but the time that I lost my cashpoint card (facts with-held to protect the guilty - it's a lot more complicated than it sounds) is probably the worst
Craziest idea or silliest
That we could get the browser to work independently from the operating system. Long story, and you had to be there.
What do you look for in the opposite sex?
I find that a sense of pity usually helps
Life is about...
Making a difference
How many rings before you answer the phone?
At work 2, at home however many it takes until I get to the phone.
Future child's name
Intentionally left blank - I don't have a paternal bone in my body.
Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?
No.
Storms - cool or scary?
It depends. Being out in a gale is scary, but thunder/lightning is cool.
What was you first car?
A clapped-out 1 litre Austin Metro in a not-particularly-fetching shade of beige, with performance to match its looks.
If you could meet one person, dead or alive?
Pete Burns...oh hang on, I think I read the question wrong...make that BB King.
If you could have any job you wanted?
Session guitarist, or a tutor at somewhere like Musicians' Institute.
If you could dye your hair any colour?
I don't think I'd bother.
Ever been in love?
Definitely.
Is the glass half-empty or half-full
