Placebo are set to play a gig at an ancient temple called Ankgor Wat in Cambodia on December 7. The band will perform at the MTV Exit concert, which is aiming to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking. It will be the first ever rock gig at the historic site.

Singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a baby boy, which she and her husband, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, have named Bronx Mowgli. The baby weighs 7lbs 11oz (3.5kg) and is 20.5 inches long.

Guitarist Slash – or rather an impersonator of the infamous axeman – has made an appearance in a new Guns N' Roses-related video. The video, created by London-based Guns N'Roses fan Jimmy Reay, is the winning entry in a competition organised by the band's record label, Polydor, to find the best air guitar tribute to Axl Rose's band.

A Place to Bury Strangers recently announced an intimate show at Mercury Lounge that night, while across the water in New Jersey, Yo La Tengo will headline the new venue Wellmont Theatre. Crystal Castles will ring in 2009 at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, while Blonde Redhead will take over Terminal 5 in midtown.

Radiohead have announced a handful of tour dates in 2009. The band are set to play shows in Latin America in March. In addition to performing at Mexico City's Foro Sol on March 15 and 16, the band will headline the Cristal en Vivo Festival on March 27 in Santiago.

The Doors' Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will be on hand to celebrate what would have been frontman Jim Morrison's 65th birthday at one of the singer's famed Los Angeles hangouts. The event will take place at Barney's Beanery on December 8 and will be broadcast live by LA radio station KLOS.
