When I see a beautiful women walking down the street, I think two things. The first is, I want to take her out, be real nice to her.

Oh right, Bateman misquotes it as being said by Ed Gein.

A quotation originally from Kemper, phrased as "When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things. One part of me wants to take her out and talk to her, be real nice and sweet and treat her right. [And the other part of me thinks] what her head would look like on a stick", is mentioned by fictional serial killer Patrick Bateman in the Bret Easton Ellis novel American Psycho, as well as the film adaptation of the same name. In both the novel and the film, the character misattributes the quote to another serial killer, Ed Gein.

I wonder if that is intentional. Well, I'm sure it was intentional, but for what reason?

Not sure if you've read the book, but it makes sense in that, since Bateman has a childlike obsession with famous killers, but doesn't really look that in-depth into them, so a lot of what he says is actually incorrect information. Doesn't come across as well in the film since he only does it once.

Ah, that makes sense.
