I get this. My mate invites me out for a drink with his mates from uni, so I go, thought I at least made the impression that I'm at minimum a human being. I get tagged in the photos as "#randomguyonthefloor"
It's like I literally don't exist in the greater schemes of any other humans. I've known that mate for sixteen ****ing years and his friends still forget who I am almost instantly.
It's getting tiring. I'm almost ready to just say **** it, **** everyone else, time to only look out for myself and only focus on what I want. Which isn't how I want to be, but if it comes to that, so be it.
Lingerie Football (now Legends Football League) is a current example of the sexploitation of women in sports and is more so considered “sporting entertainment” rather than an actual or officially recognised sport. Sexploitation is present in the Australian sporting industry with an example of the Matildas as one of the female sporting team amongst many in Australia who experience a level of sexploitation.
Lingerie Football, whilst debatable, takes away from the seriousness of female sports teams already trying to gain media coverage and more sponsorship, as mentioned before the matilda’s soccer tea is among many trying to gain more coverage as the Female side of sports is not as popular or well covered when in comparison to men’s. The Lingerie Football is a , once again debatably, less serious seeming sport but is given greater equity and access to resources where as other female sporting teams for different sports are struggling to gain further public attention and must result to activities having nothing in regards to relating to their own sports in order to boost public awareness.
Whilst saying all this I do not believe Lingerie Football should be banned, yes perving on girls for the sake of “sporting entertainment” does degrade the effort and struggle for further coverage for other female sporting teams but there aren’t any other chances for girls who want to play football on a more elite level. Whilst this is the only option for women wanting to play more elite levels of football the sport itself is exploited and given more resources, the women chosen for the sport are the idealised “form” of what is defined as a beautiful women, usually slim going on toned and clad in a garter belt and bra these women are effectively a visual representation of the women in a bonds underwear magazine
