is a history of violence like a proper movie or is it a documentary that actually documents the history of violence possibly through war and torture mechanisms for eg because that could be confusing
I thought it was that when I first heard about it
But no, it's a standard film, the name is in reference to a man that has a history of violence

I don't see why Slay is so down on A History of Violence, it seems fairly alright so far
Because it's like a lifetime-movie interspersed with awkward sex-scenes, wooden dialogue, bursts of extreme violence and slapstick.

Like seriously the ending with William Hurt smh. I can't even with that movie. Whenever I hear someone say it's good I feel like it's some elaborate prank the world is playing on me or there's like two separate, vastly different cuts and they've seen the good one and I've just seen the shit one without knowing it.

The only redeeming factor that movie had was Ed Harris, and he wasn't even that great, it's just that the other actors were so shit they made him look better.

I thought it was slightly better than the Room. Mostly because of production value.

I thought that the last half-hour kind of blew it a bit, and yeah a lot of the acting was kind of bad, but I'm more forgiving to a lot of films these days. I realised from watching people that a lot of people in real life act worse than bad actors, so it's made me see acting in a new light. Real people can be so melodramatic.
