For me, Roger Moore was the best second Bond, almost tied with Connery. He bring some sense of humor to the character and the series, and it worked very well. But it didnt work anymore in the last two movies. He was very old for the role and the humour was more and more chessy. Here is my ranking:

1: The spy who loved me ( the best one without a doubt)
2: Live and let die ( great movie and very original to the series.)
3: The man with the golden gun( Chris Lee, what a villain.)
4: For you eyes only( less than the others, but still good)
5: Moonraker( pretty corny, only like some action scenes and the Shirley Bassey theme)
6: Octopussy( evern more corny, and moore was too old)
7: a view to kill( Chris Walken was a fine villain, but again Moore was too old and the sense of humour doesnt work like in the others. )

I sure wish this poster still posted here.He always had really great views and well spoken thought out posts.Like he said,Roger Moore was great as Bond.He brought an added dimension to the series with his sense of humor to the movies series which worked really well.its amazing how we thought so much alike in our views on these movies.I rank mine almost the same exact way he did except just turn around The man with the golden gun and put for your eyes only first before that one cause I love the theme song to it and the beginning with the helicopter scene was classic as well.

My ranking is
1:The Spy Who Loved Me-as I said before, easily the best Bond movie of all the Bond films imo for the reasons me and history buff mentioned.

2:Live and Let Die-Like he said, great way to begin the Moore era, very original to the series.Paul Mccartneys theme song at the beginning makes this a great classic. Its especially a great climax at the end when he is tied to that machine with solitaire and they are being lowered into the water for the shark to munch on and they are playing the music that makes it intense. This one for me is a very close second to The spy who loved me as my favorite Bond flick.great actions scenes and a great boat chase.Probably Bonds best boat chase EVER.

3:For Your Eyes only-Like i said, love the opening the way it begins with Bond riding the helicopter and Blofeld STILL alive flying it by remote control trying to kill him.and the theme song by Sheena Easten comes in a very close second to Nobody Does it better in The Spy Who Loved Me as my favorite Bond song ever.great action scenes as always in Bond films, especially the car chase and the ski chase.those were hilarious scene chases.great flick.

4:The Man With The Golden Gun.
great flick with lots of action as usual. The beginning and ending were great ways to begin the film and to end it as well with Bond cleverly outdoing Chris Lee in the final showdow.Like bakerboy said,Lee was a great villian.this one was really great because you got to see Bond demonstrate his martial arts skills for the first time.

5:MOONRAKER-Like Bakerboy said, this was when the Bond films started getting kinda corny.I rewatched MOONRAKER again recently and I now remember why I enjoyed this film so much and why its not anywhere near as bad as people are making it out to be.The beginning of the film was just awesome with the fight scenes in mid air between Bond and that bad guy fighting for the parachute.that was some amazing filmwork.
great theme song by shirley bassey.even better than I remembered it being.great action scenes as usual, and the boat chase at the end was probably the best next to the one in Live And Let Die.they also played the classic music in that chase from Connerys Thunderball and From Russia With Love so you got to reminence on those films as well.couple corney scenes but in all around great Bond flick.Hot chick as well in this movie which is pretty impressive since she had to compete with Bach-easily the hottest Bond girl ever.

6.Octopussy-Like Bakerboy said, even more cornier than Moonraker.Moonraker only had a couple corny moments, this one had more.still a fun film to watch.was intense watching Bond trying to defuse the bomb and trying to get away from those stupid guards who wouldnt listen to him. This film I love mostly cause of the hot babes in it. big grin I would love to get beat up by those babes that were taking out those bad guys.they made me drool. laughing Like Bakerboy said,Moore had gotten too old for Bond at this point and the humor had gotten more cheesy and was starting to lose its magic at this point.

7.A View To A Kill.Moore was definetely too old for the role at this point and realised that and was smart enough to step down from the role. The only thing that I really liked about this movie was the theme song by Duran Duran.Didnt care for Christopher Walken as a villain.didnt like him at all.Tonya Roberts was the worst Bond girl ever till Halle Berry came along.could never act-which is why she dissapeared from hollywood so suddenly, and Grace Jones as a WOMAN Bond SLEPT with? yecch, gross. sick poorly written movie.

Not only is it my fav. Roger Moore Bond film, its my fav. Bond film of all that have been made.

The reasons: Moore was at the top of his game, great presence, charm, grit, and toughness. Great song, "Nobody DOes it better", great villian, and perhaps the best reason....BARBARA BACH!!!!!!!! IMO, the hottest Bond woman EVER!!!!! No doubt in my mind.

I sure wish this poster was still here. Its so cool to see someone who has the same agreements with me for the REASONS why The Spy Who Loved Me is his favorite.I also agree with him that Barbara Bach is easliy the hottest Bond girl of the Bond movies and she is the main reason this Bond film is my favorite of all Bond films. The only Bond girl that comes close to being as hot as she was is the original Bond girl-Ursula Andress from Dr No.Bach is not only sexy as hell but she also has the nicest and most soothing voice.I saw the spy who loved me again not too long ago and ohh I still cant get the sound of her voice out of my head.

I'd say I liked the spy who loved me, a great scene was when Bond had the union jack on his parachute

Of the ones I've seen.

1. For Your Eyes Only
2. Live And Let Die
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. The Man With The Golden Gun
5. A View To A Kill

Roger Moore actually plays a great Bond when he's young(LALD/TMWTGG). He just can't fight worth anything.

you must have just rewatched those movies again recently as well right? wink Cause I did and I never realised that until re watching them again recently, how he was quite a bit younger in those two movies than when he did his next Bond movie TSWLM.amazing how he aged in those four years from TMWTGGG to TSWLM. eek!

cool. The Bond movies got me interested in Roger Moore as an actor.I know most people like Connery better.I like Moore just slightly better. The real reason people come down on Moore as Bond is only because he replaced Connery who they loved so much, they'll deny it of course. If he had been the first Bond,he never would have gotten the flak from Bond fans over the years that he got.He really does an outstanding job of delivering his lines as Bond whether people want to admit that or not. They carefully selected the new actor to play him very throughly. They didnt just like draw a name out of a hat from millions or anything like that.Matter of fact, its really only on the net where most people say they like Connery the best where he wins in the polls.People I ask in real life, its pretty much 50/50 and the ones that say they like Connery better, they also say they really liked Moore as well and he is their second favorite.

When your replacing a great like Connery, your going to be careful and very selective on who the next actor that plays him is and if he has the right stuff to play him.But like I was saying, the Bond films is what got me interested in Moore as an actor and I did a google search thinking nothing much else would come up when I typed in "Roger Moores biography" cause he hasnt done near as much film work as Connery.I knew he had done The Saint tv show other than the Bond films, but I thought that was about it.I was surprised though to see that he actually has done LOTS of other stuff in films as well. You just never heard much about him like you did on Connery being in films cause unlike Connery,Moore didnt do much after Bond. However he DID do a lot of other films before being cast as Bond.Like I said, they carefully selected Moore to do Bond. They saw his other stuff and the brillaint work he had done in other films and knew what a good actor he was before making the right decision to cast him to replace Connery for the Bond films once Connery expressed a desire to move on and do other films.

It's Live and Let Die for me, this is my favourite Roger Moore Bond movie, has one of the best Bond themes too and also the music score is fantastic. The boat chase was mentioned, that is indeed one of the highlights of the entire Bond series for me. Wonderful boat chase.

Also contains one of my favourite Bond girls, Solitaire(Diana Ross nearly got the role apparently, ugh). Dr. Kananga was rather good as the villain too, except I could have done without him blowing up into a ball like shape before exploding... oh man and the Crocodiles were fab!!

I also enjoyed For Your Eyes Only, also one of my favourite music scores, especially in the ski scenes. Not fond of the theme though.

I tried to find a video of the ski scene, they have it but the idiot has put a new music score on it, so doesn't have the same effect, ugh.

Man the people that voted A View To A Kill as their favorite have got horrible taste In movies. As I said before, its the ONLY Roger Moore Bond film that sucks and doesnt measure up even close to the greatness of the other Moore films. His later Bond films got to be corny-MoonRaker and Octopussy had some corny moments in it but A View To A Kill easily topped them both with much more and unlike those two,it was boring and had a terrible story to it.I say this now because I hadnt seen a lot of these Bond movies till I rewatched them recently and I now understand Why I remember not liking A View To Kill.

Even the opening song sequence was lame. The song by Duran Duran I like, but opening sequence of all those ladies dancing around in the fire was just plain dumb. That set the tone to how stupid and idiotic it was.Plus Roger Moore bedding Grace Jones? yuck, thats just disgusting. sick I now know why I was never in a rush to see it again after seeing this movie when I was a kid.

I don't think thats the reason why people come down on Moore "he replaced Connery who they loved so much" its because he made the character such as joke

Moore delivering his lines as Bond better then connary laughing laughing

TMWTGG was great....riiiiiight , at least LALD was better :/

AVTAK was more entertaining than the Brosnans (sans GoldenEye) , at least it was down to earth unlike many other outlandish plots.

The plot in Moonraker wasn't all that great either....don't get me wrong : good eye candy yeah , story wise not so much.
