To me . I have only been reading these series for feats and battleboard style discussions .
Here , I don't give two hoots about the story , plot or characterizations .
I am a carver as far as AVX is concerned .
Kukulkan aka Quetzalcoatl is now part of a weird sacrificial ritual for a new age?
Do these writers even know anything about Native American Mythology!
Kukulkan aka Quetzalcoatl abhors sacrifice human or animals!
Even Thor gets more respect than this when using his mythological background!
yeah, I know. Most people dont even know that sacrifices were suppose to be done every 52 years iirc by willing individuals.. The warriors who were captured in battle willingly went and were not forced. They went due to shame and failure as a warrior and looked at dying for the gods as a noble sacrifice to atone themselves.
the ruling Meshika families started killing people on the alter as a political move which had less to do with religion. They would kill individuals they felt might threaten their power or to intimidate the rival tribes and peasants into paying taxes and making offerings.
They later started to sacrifice regularly during the european invasion since they were pissed and hated the europeans. So they started to kill european men, women and children as revenge.
I am not sure. I only know about Quetzalcoatl and his Mayan version due to study/research.
It take me a day or two to research the female goddess since I dont see a name on her.
From what I have found from recent interview given by Jeff Parker on CBR , I believe its Ixchel (although the interview seems to make it sound like these are not true gods , merely an advanced race of post-humans , and what they are doing is some sort of super-advanced science , not magic) : http://www.comicbookresources.com/?...le&id=39272

Doom took credit stating how Wandas is a nexus being and he took advantage of her being a conduit to power. Saying that's how she wiped out the mutants.
