Some people here just dont get it that Batman Begins is the one and ONLY Batman movie that isnt a disgrace to the comicbook and doesnt deserve to be burned.Sure there were changes made in the movies, but they were reasonable and improved the original version.Things like killing people in cowardly ways like Batman did in Batman 89 and blowing up things, thats not Batman, thats James Bond. Those movies were more like a James Bond film than anything else.Or making the villans the main character and Batman being just a supporting character like he was in the first two films, that works for a television show, but you DONT do that in a batman Movie,a movie is a special case. Those things just dont belong in a Batman movie.
When it comes down to it batman: begins is basically a love/hate film in the batman franchise. BB had it's good bits and it's bad bits. The storyline was good but not brilliant, the batmobil had a huge change that I too wasn't exactly fond of but I guess some people liked the change and welcomed it.
I get what everyone is saying with the whole "Begins is the only Bats movie that at least follows the comics and isn't just based off the main idea." but it was a terrible movie! Just dull and boring... and went on for about an hour too long, but then again most Nolan films do.
I personally agree with BruceAndSelena... '89 and Returns where the cream of the crop in my eye, true that they weren't "by the book" but they are great in entertainment value. And in the end that's what brings me back to them after all these years... Begins on the other hand, well I don't really care if I ever see it again... and something tells me DK is gonna be the same way.
Sorry guys.... but it seems my heart still lies with Burton's Batman.
I will never understand why Burton's films are explained away as artistic liscense, but the much more realistic Nolan approach is considered to be far too much liberty taken. Neither are "by the book", but only one of them could plausibly take place in the world in which we all live.

because.. Batman's world should should never be plausible with how our world is? I've never found Batman's exploits and adventures, or the setting itself, to be realistic.
I suppose the "message" dealing with the corrupt owning everything is realistic, but neither the setting nor the events can be plausible in the world in which we live.
Or maybe I'm just blowing your point out of proportion.
When I said "by the book" I mean that Nolan's take is closer to the comics than Burton's is... I mean when have you ever seen the Penguin living in the sewers with ex-carnival people?
But still, a lot more enjoyable to watch than a 15 minute long tank chase scene... I mean its so freaking dark during that whole sequence ya can barely see anything... not that there was much to see in the first place.
Okay, I'm done... why do I keep letting myself get sucked into these rants? I mean I don't even care, really!

For those of you who have the 2 disc Edition of Batman Begins. Look at one of the documentaries in which Nolan mentions getting plenty of comic books to do his indepth research on the character. Whereas with Burton....all he did was direct and let the writers handle the rest.
I liked Begins but I did find it less entertaining than Batman 1989. I actually think a blending of the two movies would have been the perfect Batman movie.
